VHCLE

VHCLE, pronounced ve-hi-cle, is more than a band. It's collective of the sorts. Bending the norms of what we know as music, VHCLE is only planning to expand. 2022 is their debut year and they have a lot in store. Multiple features with other artists, with a single release every month, and the plan to close out the year with an album. This is only the beginning...so come get in the VHCLE with us and take a ride.

‘Love Games’ is the second track to be released in 2022 but it went through a few names before they settle on this one, I’ll let them explain, “Originally the track was named, “trapped”, by Chelsea. There were floating ideas of being trapped by acts of ‘love’ around at the time. Later it was named, “love game shiver” after Kyle started writing on it. The title was changed yet again over a blunt and deep conversation with Blind Bear. He was thinking of the superficial “love games” people have with each other as well the different voices and obsessions people have in their lives.”

The band are planning on releasing one track per month throughout 2022, culminating in a long player towards the end of the year, questioned about the recording process for ‘Love Games’, this is what they said;

The recording process honestly went down to the very last week until release. We were time-pressed against conflicting schedules and obstacles in life - but we pulled through. We tried a lot of different things with the vocals leading the song to be completely different from how it started. (Very typical of our creative process.) A lot of the sound effects were recorded from Chelsea and Blind Bear. The pad-like and etheric tones were from Chelsea as the snake-like-fx were from Blind Bear.”

If you’re a fan of Trip-Hop/Goth/Pop, VHCLE are for you, keep up to date with the band’s musical happening at their social media sites below.

Jokyo

Jordan Francis aka Jokyo is a resident of Redondo Beach in the States and admits that he is the person who went solo, fell out with all of his band mates, vowing to himself that he would do it all himself. Well here he is, 3 year later with an EP, an Album and soon to be single to his name and this is just the beginning.

Jordan is one of those clever and super talented people in that he writes, records, mixes and masters and of course, plays ALL of the instruments on his songs.

Asked about his influences, he replied, “I love old-school rap and rock, and some new school obscure hiphop like Brockhampton and Tyler the Creator. I'm a big fan of most punk and metal too.’

Jordan released his debut album in August 2021 and watched it rake in over 600k listens across the major platforms, not a bad result for a one man band from Redondo Beach!

Inspired by the past, Jordan reflects on the new single, “This particular piece really comes from a more raw place in my psyche. I've had to leave a lot of people behind as I make my way onward in life, and a lot of the time I really miss those people, even the ones who were realistically bad for me.”

Atrem

Atrem is a genre-less music production unit formed in Japan by Ryuichi Shima and Yusuke Kamimura.

This song (遠い夜明け) was born from the beautiful world of the work "The Aosawa Murders" by Japanese novelist Riku Onda.

With a simple beat and simple chords, they play about a story of encounter, longing, farewell, and a new beginning.

If you’re a fan of Post-Rock, Ambient, Japanese Folk, David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Ólafur Arnalds, Radiohead, Yousui Inoue, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Atrem is for you!

Golden Plates

In 2015 Elder Brycen was living in his bosses closet in Salt Lake City, Utah. He realised he needed a band after recording the first Golden Plates EP on an old laptop with a broken secondhand guitar, and so he cloned himself in what is probably an illegal experiment. The clones were run out of Utah by the religious forces at work there, deemed an abomination to the LDS church, and they ended up in San Diego, CA, where they make music in a tiny apartment.

We asked Elder to explain just who (and what) Golden Plates was/is, “One guy and his deformed clones he made in his bathtub out of stolen stem cells and LSD made a band called Golden Plates. Together they write songs about depression, mental illness and all forms of unrequited love, from parents, friends, lovers, siblings, you name it, they've abandoned us.”

Golden Plates recently dropped a four track EP titled ‘Blue California’ and he had this to say about the title track, “‘Blue California’ came to us while watching Blue Hawaii with Elvis Presley and watching how easy everything comes to him in that film, he was the King after all, and we're not. I think everyone in my generation has some idea of what that's like.”

Influenced by the likes of Interpol, The National, The Cure, Paramore, Death Cab for Cutie, Father John Misty, David Bowie, Queens of the Stone Age, The Killers, and of course, Celine Dion (naturally), I chuckled to myself when I read that they were once kicked out of the ‘Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival’ for being "too fringe" for the local religious leaders….

Asked about future releases, Elder commented, “It's (Blue California) actually part of a string of single releases that will eventually become a self titled LP. We'll be releasing those singles every 6 weeks for the rest of 2022.

Keep your eyes on the social channels below for more news on the next release as it lands….
