We have delved deep this time and unearthed 9 brand new tracks from acts and bands from all over the world, there are some absolute gems in here but I’ll let you have a listen and work that out for yourself!
I was half hoping that the playlists may start to quieten down sometime soon, give me a bit of a break but owing to the sheer quality of music coming through, I’m going to keep them on a bi-daily basis for the foreseeable future and review things around mid-April to see if I can relax things a little! We’ll see….

see you on the other side.
Jacob Humber
Jacob Humber is currently 26 years old and moved to Nashville several years ago to engage with the songwriting culture. He plays music as a solo act and currently drives from town to town playing house shows on keys and acoustic guitar in people's living rooms across the country - the darker and more bummed out the room is the better!
Asked why he writes songs, he replied, “Most days I'm at home trying to figure out how to make new friends without completely freaking out, or preparing myself for the worst possible outcome of telling a girl how I feel, even though I have no idea what most things mean and what we're even doing here, so I write songs”.
This single (Afterlife) is the first song of a 10-song record, set to release in September 22.
Asked about the project, Jacob replied, “The project's name, Kodiak, reflects on a yearly trip my dad and I take to fish in Kodiak, Alaska. Spending copious amounts of time surrounding by nature in its most raw form will throw you into intense introspection pretty quick (turns out).”
Jacob finished up by offering these words of wisdom, “I don't write to gain notoriety or to try and be someone I'm not. I'm coping with life just like everyone, and learning how to do that through interesting, honest songwriting.”

Gergely Kalapis
Gergely Kalapis is a Wembley based one-man-band, playing guitars, bass, drums and keys as well as vocals, his influences include Nirvana, Bryan Adams and Oasis, to name a few.
He started playing the guitar at the age of 13 and has been writing and producing music since he was 16. After high school, he studied music production at Point Blank Music College in London.
His first EP, recorded in his home studio featured songs that take on the roots of his influences, including rockabilly, psychedelic rock and 60’s beat music as well as traditional Irish folk music.
His new album, Eternal Allies captures the very core of where he feels his music tastes lie, and this is clearly reflected in the coherent force amongst all the songs featured on the record. Despite the fact that some of them were written during his teenage years, and that they feature smoky blues as well as reggae beats, the lyrical universe and the distinctive guitar sound undoubtedly results in a homogeneous, yet exciting collection of songs that do not pretend to be what they are not, but still resemble an easily digestible and relatable material.

Diego Philips
‘I am Yuki:The Hiroshima project’ is a multimedia project started by musician Diego Philips in 2018.
More than a concept-album, ‘I am Yuki :The Hiroshima project’ is promoting global peace, forgiveness and tolerance, and does not only limit to the world of music but has a message that extends to the world of art in general.
Philips’ intimate relationship with Japan started in 2004 on his first visit to Japan. In 2007 he went back and spent six months there where he attended a Japanese High School, soaking in Japanese Culture. In 2013, he went back once more on holidays and visited the city of Hiroshima, where he was deeply moved by the historical events whilst visiting the Hiroshima peace museum. In 2018, with the help of musicians Vincent Cudet on drums, Jamie Moggridge on guitar, Michael Jones on bass and Magda Skyllback on vocals, they put together what was the first version of the Hiroshima project. After an acclaimed performance at The Half Moon in Putney, they worked with producer James Yates to refine and record the project at Yates’ studio in Newhaven, East Sussex and had the music mastered by Guy Davie at Electric Mastering in London.
The music takes influence from various places, from The Beatles to The Velvet Underground and other bands like Wilco and Radiohead. The final product is a syncretism of Folk & Rock, pulling from the influence palettes of the musicians.

Malin Wättring
On February 25th, Malin Wättring released her new single ‘I Want the Truth’ on the feministic record label PACAYA records.
During the past 10 years, Malin has become an established saxophonist and composer on the modern jazz scene. She has won several awards and prizes for her artistic work and worked with some of Swedens’s finest jazz & improv musicians.
With her new single, Malin is showing a new side of herself. It’s the first release where she plays guitar and sings. The music can be described as indie rock with strong singer-songwriter roots. Intimacy and rawness in symbiosis!
Malin adds, "Some may find it strange that I completely change genre, instrument and expression on this record, but for me this is the next natural step in my creative path,"
As a teenager, Malin listened to bands such as Pearl Jam, PJ Harvey, Ane Brun & José Gonzales and these are musical influences for the single and upcoming album Songs of Wounds and Healing that will be released on March 25th.
Malin says about the single: “I wrote the lyrics to I want the truth 10 years ago. I was in a relationship that I felt lacked openness and honesty and I wrote about what I was longing for. Today the words mean something else to me. I feel like I’m singing to my inner child, telling her that she is OK as she is, and that I’m asking her to dare to be vulnerable and present in my life. I wrote the music together with my friend and colleague Karin Verbaan (jazz singer & composer) in 2012. The song has had many musical arrangements. I’m really happy with this final version that we’re now releasing! It starts off with a beautifully sounding guitar and the vocals comes in around 1 minute into the song. I love the tension that the waiting creates! I also love how the song grows and gets bigger and bigger. It's a slow crescendo and ends in an, in my opinion, epic place!”
For this single and album, Malin put together a brand new band with upcoming Swedish musicians such as Olimpia Dynarek on piano, Maria Dahlin on drums and Johanna Ekholm on bass and Hannah Tolf, Hannah Shermis & Karin Verbaan on backing vocals.
The album was recorded at Elementstudion in Gothenburg between November 2020 and February 2021.
Malin has produced it together with sound-engineer Oskar Karlsson. The song is mastered in The Swedish Grammofon Studio by Frida Claesson.

Slow Fall
Andrew Galloway is a full-time software developer who is exploring music as a creative outlet from the comfort of his couch.
This single ‘The Way is Clear’ is a piece to a full length album he is planning to release by the end of 2022.
He counts Nujabes, Flying Lotus, Japanese Breakfast, Kefir, Thom Yorke, Yoko Kanno, Gorillaz, Griffin McElroy, Vangelis & Lisa Simpson amongst influences but admits that nearly all of his music was inspired by his love for Lo-Fi Hip-Hop and particularly by a desire to eventually get a feature on Critical Role's "Mighty Vibes" YouTube playlist! He added that most of what he produces doesn't really fit the Lo-Fi Hip-Hop sound and that It's a ‘work in progress’.
Asked if there was anything else he wanted to add about the track, he closed with, “This song was really just an exploration in breaking out of my typical major key comfort zone. I just happened to like it enough to release it”.
Well if this is him just trying out new ideas, I for one can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!
