Notevenstevens
notevenstevens is one of the freshest multifaceted artists in the Australian music scene. He is a genre-bending, PC Music-loving producer, artist, songwriter & creative director. His debut album, ‘Chains’, is one of the most unique and original albums to release in 2022.
A 13 track experience with a mixture of instrumental and vocal based songs which includes his vocal debut on ‘Torn2pieces’, and ‘Haunted’. With an ever-growing fanbase with charting #4 on the iTunes Australian Electronic chart, 5m+ listeners on TikTok and 50k+ streams, notevenstevens is definitely one to watch as he transcends the underground.
notevenstevens's debut album 'Chains' is electronic music on steroids. This experimental masterpiece defines its theme through its unique take on the complex arrangement of juicy musical elements. Thus, this album has driven itself through the walls of institutionalized musical theory towards a free and limitless form. From tracks like 'Goin Up', 'Float', 'Nitrous', 'High Beams', 'Tactical', 'Goin Down' you can hear the ideas and thoughtfulness behind the sound that entices you with its complex articulations and strong resonance.
These tracks give the feeling that exactly match their titles. Even if the nature of these beautifully tuned and artistically composed tracks is entirely abstract, the basic fundamental music can be heard through it. The art of 'Chains' exists in its proficiency to simulate visuals in the minds of listeners based on each track. The tonal variations and unpredictable layers are filled with stunning shapeless forms of melodies and harmonies that enhance the scope of this album.
Its ultramodernist compositional techniques have exquisite and captivating contrasts of dynamics and textures. Birth and rebirth of constantly evolving and challenging frequencies have ambient as well as emotional impacts on listeners. All this power when combined with magnetic and euphonic vocals, you get a whole new experience of Ethan, aka notevenstevens', music which can be heard through songs like 'Infatuated feat. Kehar', 'Paradise', 'Complex' and 'Spine' which feat. Stitxch along with 'Torn2Pieces' and 'Haunted' which has his own vocals. Using in-depth knowledge of how a sound hits and influences a certain mood or emotion and presenting it in a combination in its wildest nature is something this album accomplishes. 'Chains' is beyond the laws and regulations of methodical and procedural music, it is revolutionary in its own unique way.

Francis Alban Blake
Francis Alban Blake released his new album, 'Passages', on the 15th of April on King Forward Records, ahead of its release he revealed the latest single 'Blisters', which dropped on 24th of March.
'Blisters' is about giving in to (artistic) primal desires. The song is inspired by the life of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Asked about the track, Francis said, “I know this sounds crazy, but I have written about 35 verses for this one in an automatic writing mode session hoping that Da Vinci would visit me and tell me how he felt about stuff. A lot came out and when I started to play it along to the track I had a sense this was a song that I would never write otherwise. I think it has definitely been influenced also by Freud’s analysis of Da Vinci.”
Musically, ‘Blisters’ is a sonic showcase, Francis adds, “A lot of interesting progressions and harmonies are going on here at the same time. I think all instruments have an intensity and urgency that make this song work. The spooky voices at the beginning of the track were a happy accident when I had Francis Blake’s tape machines hooked up and one of them started to play back a bit too fast when I re-recorded a close harmony through the tape. I kept it and threw that through my echo chamber. Absolutely love it.”
With his new album and ‘Blisters’, the latest track to drop from the album, there is much to look forward to from this incredible artist. Why not get yourself settled and go stream the album on Spotify and see what you think, I for one KNOW that you’ll love it!

Togethermachine
[[]]togethermachine is the studio outfit for drummer Marcel van As (Coparck/Spinvis). Heavily influenced by David Holmes, DJ Shadow, Beach House, Prince and Miles Davis (a.o) he released his debut album ‘[[]]” in November 2020, to critical acclaim
In March 2021 he released yet another project, inspired by beats Dutch drummer Mischa Porte posted to the internet during lockdown number 1. For 70 days Mischa Porte played his lockdown blues away, for everyone to use freely. Marcel clinged on for more than 20 days and posted a track inspired by the beat of the day, everyday at 21:00 sharp.
From his home studio, Marcel is now working on different projects at the same time, resulting in at least one more album to come out this year. All sorts of interesting collaborations are in the making.
[[]]togethermachine will released his second full length on April, 8 on all streaming services. This release is fully in sync with the [[]]togethermachine philosophy: a collab with inspiring artist @prtr_jan. The two artists met on Twitter, where the small collages of sound and video caught the eye and ear of [[]]togethermachine. These clips were the starting point of almost two years of composing, remixing, sculpting over 40 ideas of @prtr_jan (Twitter handle) to the 12 original tracks that this volume 1 is giving home to. A Volume 2 is in the making. It will be released when it is finished.
The record is also a collage of different sounds and genres, without it ever really being those genres, rather than borrowing from them. It makes the album a whole, jumping from flavour to flavour telling the stories of life in city area's somewhat in decay.
Gloomy but comforting as a nowadays Edward Hoppers' "Nighthawks"
