Emerging indie-rockers President Elect share the vibrant new single ‘Pretence’ taken from their upcoming EP ‘Something to Prove’.

Comprising Iggy Waller (vocals and bass), Vincent Barulis (lead guitar), Jude Crook (rhythm guitar), and Zak Waller (drums), the four piece have made a name for themselves as one to watch with a whole host of support across tastemaker press (Earmilk, New Noise) and radio (BBC Radio 6, BBC Introducing, Sirius XM) and are now ready to take things to the next level.

Recorded at RAK Studios with producer Tayte Nickols (Lissy Taylor, Dana Luna, The Sheratons) and then mixed and mastered by Lee McCarthy at Sugar House Productions (Corella, Venus Grrrls, Larkins, The Ks, Viola Beach, Pale Waves) the new single offers some of President Elects finest work to date, fusing earworm hooks and vibrant guitar led musicality.

Written with and featuring guest vocals of Holda Sek, ‘Pretence’ opens with a boxy strummed guitar riff before bursting to life with a high-octane beat, under chorus tinted chords, driving bass and a crunching lead guitar. Dipping into the verse with swelling synth and reverb tinted lead vocals the track gradually grows before exploding into its huge anthemic chorus where Holda Sek makes her first appearance. Through the second verse Sek takes the lead before the track reaches its climactic final chorus and sprawling instrumental to close out the track.

Speaking on the single the band explain:

"Pretence was written and recorded with our close friend Holda Sek. A song about reflection, past relationships, and the idea that what you thought something would be was better than it actually was.

Every inch of this song feels like you’re listening through a coming of age film, whether it's the arguing duet of Iggy and Maddie (Holda Sek), Jude’s haunting 7/4 guitar riff, or the chaos of Zak’s drums in the outro - the song is undeniably a potential young adult breakup anthem.

We spent a lot of time in RAK Studio with our Producer Tayte Nickols, trying to capture the raw emotion and the deterioration of the relationship in the music as well as the lyrics. It was only after Vincent solo’d through a crazy delay pedal, while we randomly twisted and turned the knobs that we knew we’d finally created the feeling we were looking for. Pretence took its time to be fully-formed but it results in the most unique and emotional track from the EP. "

President Elect have rapidly earned a reputation as a tight, dynamic, and highly sought-after live act. Having toured the UK, selling out venues across London and performed at slots at UK festivals including Vale Fest, the band have built a feverish hype following support from Amy Lamé on BBC Radio 6 Music. With coverage pouring in from the likes of Alfitude, Earmilk, New Noise, Illustrated Magazine, IGGY Magazine and more, the band have also gained support from BBC Introducing, Sirius XM, and Future Hits Radio among others.

The new single ‘Pretence’ is released March 15th
