NEWS/LIVE: Skunk Anansie return with electrifying new single ‘An Artist Is An Artist’....
UK & EU Headline Tour Set for March/April 2025
British rock trailblazers Skunk Anansie are back with their dynamic new single, ‘An Artist Is An Artist’, marking their first release in nearly three years. Showcasing the band’s legendary energy and biting lyricism, the track is a powerful statement on ageism, digital-era validation, and the enduring spirit of artistic integrity.
Brimming with sharp wit and pulsing with spiky new-wave energy, ‘An Artist Is An Artist’ harks back to the fierce, confrontational ethos of their debut single, ‘Little Baby Swastikkka.’ True to their roots in Britain’s agit-pop lineage—evoking comparisons to The Slits and the clever wordplay of Ian Dury—this latest offering is both a reminder of the band’s legacy and a bold step into the future.
A Collaboration with David Sitek
Produced by renowned musician and producer David Sitek (TV On The Radio, Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Santigold), the track captures a raw and experimental energy that redefines Skunk Anansie’s signature sound. “He reminded us to strip everything down, to return to that primal, instinctive approach,” says guitarist Ace. Skin, the band’s iconic frontwoman, admits she was skeptical about the addition of a sax solo, but the end result is stunning. “It’s like nothing we’ve ever done before, but it feels completely natural,” she shares.
The result is a reinvigorated Skunk Anansie: leaner, bolder, and ready to reclaim their place as one of rock’s most vital forces.
