2014 saw the 25th anniversary of Warp’s longest-serving artist Nightmares On Wax. We celebrated with the ‘N.O.W. Is The Time’ best-of boxset, reissues of their back catalogue on vinyl, and a worldwide tour.
 
As a culmination of all this retrospective activity, and before Nightmares On Wax embarks on new projects in 2015, Warp presents an official video for fan favourite “You Wish”. This track has become something of an online phenomenon since initial release in 2006 as part of album 'In A Space Outta Sound'.  The track wasn’t released as a single and had no video made, but despite that spread organically through inclusion in DJ mixes, fan videos and streaming shares. Love for the track has spread like wild fire, racking up 1.5 million fan upload YouTube plays this year alone, which is now acknowledged with this film by Sally Sibbet. Nightmares On Wax mainman George Evelyn walks through a psychedelic ever-dissolving landscape of geometric shapes and shifting colours, ‘scratch-edited’ to the breakbeat as if he is umbilically linked to some kind of celestial turntable.

George ‘E.A.S.E’ Evelyn, AKA Nightmares On Wax, has released a range of records that have been integral to cultural movements and electronic music. He spent his youth b-boying his way around the streets of Leeds and Bradford as part of teenage breakdance crew the Solar City Rockers. After cutting some embryonic rave tracks with musical co-conspirator Kevin ‘Boy Wonder’ Harper, the duo signed to Warp and released debut album 'A Word Of Science', becoming instrumental in the bleep explosion; with tracks such as ‘Dextrous’ and ‘Aftermath’ attaining mythical status for a generation of clubbers. George continued as a solo artist, still under the Nightmares On Wax moniker, going on to produce definitive albums 'Smokers Delight' and 'Carboot Soul' - both of which helped shape the burgeoning down tempo hip-hop scene, and tracks such as ‘Les Nuits’ being widely regarded as chillout classics. Later albums such as 'In A Space Outta Sound' continue to be staple afterparty favourites, with the track ‘You Wish’ in particular being featured in numerous DJ mixes, compilations and club sets. The most recent Nightmares On Wax album, 2013’s ‘Feelin’ Good’, weaves a musical thread through a plethora of styles that N.O.W have explored over the years, including hip-hop, jazz, soul, and funk. In summer 2014, Evelyn took a rare look back at their body of work to date with 'N.O.W IS THE TIME', which encompassed a double CD best-of collection and ‘Deep Down’ boxset editon featuring a 12” x 12” book of unseen photographs, memorabilia and extensive interviews, and newly commissioned remixes on two slabs of vinyl from the likes of Morgan Geist, Optimo, Loco Dice, Special Requestand Ashley Beedle.
