PEGGY SEEGER ANNOUNCES UK TOUR DATES....

‘Swim To The Star’, from the album ‘Everything Changes’, and co-written with her son Calum MacColl, has been nominated for Best Original Song at the upcoming Radio 2 Folk Awards.

In a double coup for the family, Peggy’s husband Ewan MacColl (1915-2015) will be inducted into the Folk Awards Hall of Fame at the ceremony in Cardiff on 22nd April.

In June, Peggy embarks on a 16-date UK tour to celebrate her 80th birthday, accompanied on stage by her sons, Calum and Neill MacColl.  Both fine musicians in their own right, between them they’ve played with some of the biggest names in pop and folk music in the world.  Peggy says “The boys asked what I wanted for my birthday.  I said it might be my last tour so I wanted them to join me. How many other families are able to request and give a similar gift?”

It’s been a very busy six months since Peggy – folk queen, feminist icon, political activist, eco-warrior, muse - released her 22nd and probably finest solo album Everything Changes.  Glowing reviews (“a revelation”, 5 stars The Guardian), many end-of-year ‘best of’ lists and several prestigious music awards have helped generate strong media coverage and interviews, placing Peggy firmly in the spotlight where she belongs.

Album notes:

With the taboos broken, songs about life, death, sex, drug addiction and tragedy sit surprisingly comfortably alongside humour, irony and some lyrics discovered on the back of a public toilet door. The album reflects Peggy’s fine attention to detail in her iconic song writing, helped by faultless production from son Calum MacColl.
