ROBBIE WILLIAMS becomes the most successful UK solo artist EVER....

The incredible ROBBIE WILLIAMS, who was honoured with the highly prestigious BRITs Icon Award earlier this week, has broken a new record today when his current album “The Heavy Entertainment Show” went straight into the UK albums chart at No.1.

The album is Robbie’s 12th UK solo No.1, the highest number ever for a UK solo artist ahead of the late David Bowie (11). This remarkable achievement also places him second place, behind only The Beatles, in terms of No.1 studio albums in UK chart history. Robbie now has ten, whilst The Beatles have 11.

Robbie said today: “I’m chuffed that this album is No 1 and I’m humbled by these amazing statistics and facts. Thank you to the wonderful, wonderful team at Sony. I’m as proud of this album as much as any other, and hope that the fans enjoy it as much as I loved making it...this is for the friendlies. I’m very excited to be taking The Heavy Entertainment show on tour next year.”

“The Heavy Entertainment Show” is Robbie’s first album on Sony Music UK.

Jason Iley, Chairman and CEO, Sony Music UK and Irelandsaid: “Everyone at Sony feels incredibly privileged and fortunate to be working with Robbie as well as playing a part in helping him to make history. It’s an amazing achievement for Robbie which is hugely deserved.”
