Sam Green is a diminutive, but perfectly formed musical heavyweight.  His North Atlantic coast, slide guitar, surf roots style is outstanding.  I caught up with him when he supported The Undercover Hippy at the Palladium Club in Bideford.  He played a solo set, just him and his guitars and he absolutely rocked the place.  After his set he explained how he achieves the unique breathy hoarseness to his vocals and I can only describe his approach as that of a scientist;  Sam sings like a 70 year old nicotine stained, whiskey soaked hillbilly; and he’s good. He’s a surf roots musical alchemist.  His band, The Midnight Heist, provide a majestic, rich cacophonous tapestry into which Sam weaves his delicious vocals.  Sam Green and the Midnight Heist do rock and roll exactly as it should be done and every track is a full on, beautiful assault on the senses.

 

 

"Hitching a Ride" is a track from his EP back in 2015.  His last album was the delightful acoustic EP Just Stand Still.  Look out for a new single “Where you're from” from Sam Green and the Midnight Heist which is due out imminently.

 

Sam has announced his Spring Tour which is a tour of two halves where he'll support the magnificent Willie and the Bandits and Ferocious Dog alongside his own dates across the South of the UK, followed by some dates with his full band The Midnight Heist.
