Slow Earth “People are Dying” - Ukraine Band Determined to Tour UK in May....
Anthem Making Cool Kids From The East Report From The Front Line
These images show the band Slow Earth in the centre of the recent and frightening struggle in Ukraine.
The four lads are from Zaporozhye, a city north of Crimea. They have witnessed fighting in the streets, seen an invasion force, and worse:
“In our region, Russian militaries are trying to cut some territories we live in. We can see men with shotguns out there. People are dying. Roads are blocked.”
UK shows planned for March have been postponed until May, while the band focus on the situation at home – a struggle that is massively important to them and the people around them, manning the barricades as above, and flying the flag in the face of injustice. They are reminding us that things can still break down and do break down - with horrific consequences.
The band are eager to bring their new record ‘Latitude and 023’ to the UK with this tour, especially to highlight the importance of what they are going through now – what if you looked outside your window to see an army firing weapons, killing those around you, your community and people you love?
‘Latitude and 023’ reflects this. Recorded in Prague, the EP has been post-produced in Los Angeles by Dan Leffler (Muse/Red Hot Chilli Peppers/U2). For the artwork they employed he talents of legendary designer Storm Thorgerson. The records release has also been pushed back to May in line with their UK dates, which include a showcase at Brighton’s Great Escape festival.
‘Latitude and 023’ is due for release on Monday 5th May 2014. Check it out below;
