We took a listen to 'THIS TIME', the new album by West Country Alt-Folk duo SOUND OF THE SIRENS, see what we thought....

Westcountry duo Sound of the Sirens release their second studio album This Time on January 25th. This is the follow up to their 2017 debut release For All Our Sins which received widespread praise from far and wide, culminating with them appearing on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 Breakfast show, a slot on the main stage at his famous ‘Car-Fest’ festival and also an airing on prime time television after Chris asked the ladies to appear on an anniversary edition of ‘TFI FRIDAY’ where they performed alongside U2 and Take That .

Some might say that a 15 track album is a little on the lengthy side, I guess it could be, but I can assure you that it’s 100% thriller and 0% filler. From the opener ‘Awakening’ to the closing tones of ‘Every Time’, you know that you’re listening to Sound of the Sirens, it just oozes their trademark values, made up of infectious melodies and the heavenly harmonies that Hannah and Abbe are renowned for, each and every track lifts you and transports you to another dimension.

The album covers multiple themes including time, loss, love, perseverance and hope which are all lovingly intertwined within the 49 minutes that make up this delightful sophomore release. There’s a smattering of different styles throughout the album, the opener ‘Awakening’ and ‘Believe’ being more upbeat, whilst ‘Another Day’ features beautiful guitar melodies and some of the finest harmonies I’ve heard in a long time. ‘All We Need’ and ‘Through the Night’ strip things right back, gentle piano and guitar allowing their heartfelt, honest and sincere vocals to float above. The contrast between foot stomping floor-fillers and more gentle, laid back tracks is incredible. ‘Four O’ Clock’ features some impressive mandolin playing and readies the listener for the tremendous closing track ‘Every Time’ seeing the ladies belting out the words like it was the last chance they’d ever have to sing together.

The album will be available digitally, on CD and black heavyweight vinyl, with signed copies available to pre-order now from Sound Of The Sirens’ online store. ‘Troubles’ is available as an instant grat with all album pre-orders.
