THE MOONS - MINDWAVES - ALBUM REVIEW

I was sent the link to this album under the idea that this band is going to become something quite huge, and for the first time I was sold purely by the 90 second intro which mashed up the likes of Muse, Adam Ant and the Beatles before merging wonderfully into sixties psychedelic opening track Society.

For example, Fever is a scintillating catchy tune to clap your hands along to building into a classic rock track, whilst Heart and Soul is a big bolstering track with eerie sounds of 70’s glamour rock tinkling all the time in the background.

Sometimes is a graceful slower track with sing along harmonies as the lead guitar strikes beautifully, whilst Rage and Romance is a dazzling group spectacle leading to a full symphonic ending, enough to bring a tear to anyone’s eyes.

Finale track On The Moon begins with delicate piano tinkering put alongside poignant heart-rending vocals before slowly ascending into a beautiful vintage love song.

This sort of album brings the idea of a fun, well polished contemporary band harking tones of Kaiser Chiefs and the Arctic Monkeys but still manages to maintain a brilliant vintage sound that strikes back to classic rock bands of the 60’s and 70’s. A band you’ll want to keep an eye on as this is a brilliant well produced, thought out album that sets the ears on fire with arm waving rock tunes and soulful classic rock ballads.

Favourite Track: All in My Mind for its slower tempo that trudges heavily along with those unique and mesmerizing lead vocals. Anyone who uses a bass guitar properly is my new hero, so the brilliant bass interlude followed by sweeping strings makes it a stand out track to the rest for me.
