THE PERMANENT SMILERS RELEASE THEIR NEW SINGLE 'IDENTITY CRISIS' IN MARCH....

It’s a pre cursor to the new album One Real Big Identity Crisis, thirteen brand new songs which have been in production for two years. An album doffing it’s cap to many musical genres, but with that familiar Permanent Smilers tunefulness and unpredictability threading through.

Recorded at The Mill studios in Norfolk, produced with Jonny Cole, and mixed by David Pye.

Frontman Richard was the songwriter behind The Lemongrowers, who released two albums on the Norwich based Noisebox label.

The bands influences include The Stranglers, The Doors and such like, but also the other end of the musical spectrum with Abba!

Catchy melodies are the order of the day for The Permanent Smilers. Whether you like it or not, these things once they are in your system, stay with you.

Not a band to use technology for the sake of it, The Permanent Smilers used to use a smoke machine during gigs. Of course, this needed testing out regularly at rehearsals and on one occasion led to The Waterfront venue in Norwich being evacuated when the smoke alarms were activated. The fire brigade almost saw the funny side of it. Less so The Waterfront administration, with a gig in full swing in the main auditorium which was, of course, evacuated…doh!
