TUFF LOVE ‘GROUCHO’ RECORD STORE DAY SPLIT 7” SINGLE (W/ LAZY DAY'S 'PORTRAIT') APRIL 18, 2015
Promptly following the release of their critically-acclaimed Dross EP, one of Scotland’s most exciting new bands Tuff Love present more brand new music in the form of a limited-edition single for Record Store Day 2015. The glorious ‘Groucho’ – which premiered on Monday via Line of Best Fit ("a windstorm of fuzzed-out, sun-bleached exuberance") – will be available as one side of a special split 7”, the reverse of which will feature up-and-coming London lo-fi dream-pop quartet Lazy Day’s stunning ‘Portrait’. The single will be on sale in select independent record stores around the UK from Record Store Day on April 18, 2015, then thereafter also from the Lost Map webshop and as an iTunes/Bandcamp download. Tuff Love will embark on a UK tour in support of both the new single and Dross throughout April (see dates above), as well as play various summer festivals including Long Division, Solas, Kendal Calling and others TBA.
As marked by packed launch shows in Glasgow and London, Dross was released on Lost Map Records in February on 10” pink vinyl and download. In November, 'Slammer' – the lead single from Dross – won the Rebel Playlist on BBC 6 Music by a landslide, and was subsequently playlisted on the station, as was Dross’s second single ‘That’s Right’. The EP has attracted a plethora of plaudits from titles including GQ ("devastatingly cool"), DIY Mag ("exciting Scottish duo up the ante"), GoldFlakePaint ("a little bit of magic") and The Skinny (“depth and substance… they’re a hell of a prospect”).
Tuff Love are Julie Eisenstein (guitar, vocals) and Suse Bear (bass, vocals – also a member of fellow Lost Map artists Monoganon and The Pictish Trail’s live band). They come from Glasgow, and they write dazzling, sun-streaked guitar pop songs with mesmerising lyrics, heart-wrenching vocals and dreamy melodies like the sound of pure summer. They make all their music in Suse’s flat, self-engineering and self-producing everything. Following the release of their debut Junk EP in May 2014 on dazzling 10” white vinyl the band toured the UK and Europe, and played several major summer festivals, including Glastonbury, T in the Park, Wickerman, Coconut Festival (France), Lost Map's Howlin' Fling, Cloudspotting and Long Division. They have built up a sturdy live reputation, playing for sell-out crowds opening for Real Estate, Perfect Pussy, Joanna Gruesome, Honeyblood and PAWS among others.

LOST MAP RECORDS was established in 2013, from founder and director Johnny Lynch’s caravan home on the Planet Eigg (56°54’N, 06°10’W). A brand new micro-label and collective unshackled by style or genre, it was formed with a pioneering spirit to reassess how we discover and explore music amid the disorientating digital geography of the 21st century, through physical and digital releases, events, festivals and all destinations in between. The Lost Map roster currently includes Rozi Plain, Kid Canaveral, Seamus Fogarty, Randolph’s Leap, eagleowl, Monoganon, The Pictish Trail, Tuff Love and Insect Heroes. Critically-lauded and sold-out large-scale Lost Map events to date have included the Kid Canaveral’s Xmas Baubles seasonal all-dayers in Edinburgh in December 2013 and December 2014, and the epic Howlin’ Fling festival on the isle of Eigg in July 2014.
JOHNNY LYNCH, AKA THE PICTISH TRAIL is Director of Lost Map Records, which he founded in 2013. A singer-songwriter in his own right, Johnny has released a number of LPs, mini-albums, EPs, and singles under his Pictish moniker. Critically- acclaimed 2008 debut album, Secret Soundz Vol. 1, was a gloriously eclectic slice of lo-fi folk-pop that saw Pictish tour the globe. January 2013 saw the release of the equally well-received Secret Soundz Vol. 2. Johnny also performs as Silver Columns, an electro-pop collaboration with Adem (Fridge) – whose album YES AND DANCE was released through London- based tastemakers Moshi Moshi. In June 2014, Moshi Moshi released both of The Pictish Trail’s Secret Soundz albums as a special double-disc package in cooperation with Lost Map.
