VIDEO EXCLUSIVE - Charlie Dore releases a live video for 'Cleaning Out My House' ahead of her Autumn tour

**** “Entertaining and original. A gift for melody” - The Guardian

“…an amazingly astute, moving, intelligent and connected songwriter…a voice like Kate McGarrigle meets Dory Previn. Wonderful!” - Mike Harding

“Beautiful, existential, metaphysical and intriguingly ‘other’. Zen folk I want to call it”  - Ricky Ross, BBC Scotland

‘A songwriter of exceptional talent…what singles Dore out from the rest is her lyrics. One of the UK’s most original talents.’ - RnR

Celebrated singer-songwriter Charlie Dore has announced her September 2024 tour dates, promising a series of intimate performances across the country from Brighton to Lancashire, giving followers a chance to see her perform in both traditional and unique settings. Showcasing her rich lyrical narratives and colourful musicality, Dore will be performing with multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman of Steeleye Span.

To mark the build up to the September tour which includes four Devon dates, Charlie Dore has released a live video for Cleaning Out My House, a track which was released in 2008 and is a firm favourite when she plays live.

Cleaning Out My House first appeared as the only self-written track on the 2008 Hula Valley Songbook album - a collection of country, bluegrass and 1930's curios we often included in sets for my first band, Hula Valley. It was supposed to be all covers, but when I played this new track - co-written with my other brother Julian Littman, everyone on my team liked it and suggested we break the covers rule and included it in the album. It became and remains a favourite with live audiences, but this is the first time it has had a video all to itself. The theme is really what it says on the tin. A little lecture to myself, a list of resolves. On a personal note, if I'm ever caught cleaning out the house it's usually because I'm avoiding work. Procrastinators unite! We often rework the end few bars, just to keep it fresh. There are many different endings. So if you see us smiling it's probably because we managed to get it right...(but only just.) - Charlie Dore

Charlie Dore’s Autumn Tour 24: Songs, Stories, and Surprises

Fans of the ‘intruigingly other’ can expect an evening of genre-defying, rootsy, folk/Americana - bursting with earworms and crunchy lyrics. This is a setlist packed with gems from an extensive back catalogue as well as selections from her most recent album, the award-winning Like Animals.

One of the UK's most respected songwriters, Charlie Dore has written worldwide for the good and the great, including Martha Wainwright,Tina Turner, George Harrison, Celine Dion and Paul Carrack, but her live shows reveal that she keeps the best songs for herself!  Throughout the shows Dore and Littman demonstrate an almost telepathic musical connection, impressively honed over many years of collaboration.

Dore and Littman are known for their warm and assured stage presence, off the cuff banter and extreme instrument-swapping (guitars, loops, piano, mandolin, harmonium, ukulele) and stories as they showcase some of her best known songs alongside some even chosen by her audiences.

Julian and Charlie have re-discovered songs that have matured well, even though some were hidden on B Sides or even left in demo form. Plus they’ll be including a surprise cover… and even now, the night may end with a very special acoustic version of her own hit ‘Pilot Of The Airwaves’.
