Israel López Valdés, better known as Cachao, was one of the most famous Cuban musicians of all time. His influence on Cuban music cannot be overstated, and his international status is such that he even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He won several Grammy awards during the 90s and is best known for his role in creating the mambo, by incorporating African rhythms into the traditional cuban danzón. His nephew, Orlando “Cachaito” López, is an accomplished bassist himself, and is one of the mainstays of the famed Buena Vista Social Club. Between them, they have produced a huge amount of iconic Cuban music.

On double bass will be Davide Mantovani, joined by Cuban virtuosos Valdés, Omar Puente, Grammy-winning Hammadi Valdes, Michel Castellanos, René Álvarez and more.
