Following the sell out success of their co – headline tour with fellow British Country flag flyers The Shires, critically acclaimed UK country duo Ward Thomas have today announced details of their own, 18 date UK and Ireland tour, to begin in March. The announcement follows hot on the heels of the band’s UK Album Of The Year Award win at this year’s British Country Music Awards, as well as a run of recent shows that saw most of the dates, including two back to back London shows at Bush Hall, sell out.
The upcoming 2015 tour will see the band appearing in Bristol, Manchester, Aberdeen, Dublin and Cardiff amongst others. The band will also play their biggest headline show to date at the Islington Assembly Hall in London on March 26th.
Ward Thomas’s debut album ‘From Where We Stand’ debuted in the Top 20 of the mid-week album chart the day after its release, entered the iTunes Country Chart at No.1 and sat at the top of the OCC Country Artist Album Chart for 5 weeks.
With a current total of three singles garnering BBC Radio 2 playlist support (including two A-lists), the arrival of their debut album in July was preceded by an appearance on BBC Breakfast News as well as interviews and features in the Sunday Times Culture, The Times and The Independent amongst others. With festival appearances in the summer including Maverick, Jamie Oliver and Alex James’s Big Feastival and Radio 2’s Hyde Park event, it is increasingly evident that Ward Thomas are going from strength to strength, heralding a new age for Country Music in the UK.
“On raw talent alone (Ward Thomas) could give the best of Nashville a run for its money” The Independent, October 2014
Ward Thomas are 20-year old twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas from Hampshire. Whilst in sixth form, a rough demo of the Ward Thomas track “Footnotes” found its way into the hands of two respected Nashville session musicians, leading to the recording of their debut album ‘From Where We Stand’. One listen to the vocal cadences and close harmonies on this award winning debut album and Nashville and Hampshire suddenly don’t seem all that far apart.
