Please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your style of music

My Name is Lucy Gallant. I am a British born Australian multi instrumentalist, singer-songwriter/producer.  I have created my own unique style fusing genres of acoustic, soul, reggae, trip hop and pop.

If I had to say that you were ‘for fans of’ an artist who would you choose?

Amy Winehouse, Lilly Allen, Lana Del Ray mixed with Manu Chao

Tell me how you felt when you heard that you’d be playing at Boardmasters Festival this year?

I was over the moon, jumping for joy, so happy!

Do you know which stage you’re playing yet?

Yes I am playing The View Stage on Sunday, 14:45 – 15:15.

Have you been there as a festival goer before or played their before? If so, what was your favourite memory?

I have not yet had the pleasure.

The lineup this year is OFF THE SCALE, which bands or artists are YOU really excited about?

Florence + the Machine. I was playing Glastonbury 2015 the same year as Florence and got to watch her show. I was so blown away and inspired by it, I can’t wait to watch her again!

I also cannot wait to see Jorja Smith. I am a big fan - she has such a beautiful voice! Caravana Sun and  Ocean Ally are great too, and they are from Australia like me!

Any heroes that you’d like to meet at the festival? If so, what would you say to them if you did get to meet them?

I really want to meet Jorja Smith and Florence I would love to tell them how much I admire them and If I could open for them in the future!

Will you be sticking around for the whole weekend or heading off after your set?

Yes I will be sticking around. I am going to join the party for sure!

Will you be camping or staying in a local hotel?

I will be camping ⛺️

Please give me your top three tips to surviving a weekend music festival

  1. Water proof clothing.

  2. Eco friendly glitter.

  3. Sometimes losing your friends and going off on your own can become the best adventure, as you can meet the most amazing people when you are not glued to a group.

What do you think it is about Boardmasters that attracts such a large audience year on year?

The great lineup, location, happy vibes and friendly atmosphere.

Will you be having a surf whilst in Cornwall?

Yes I would love to. I get scared to do it in Australia because there are a lot of sharks, so Cornwall would be safer hehehe

Why should people come and watch you perform at Boardmasters?

I have been told my voice is unique and that people really connect with my songs and lyrics. Some of my songs are liberating, light-hearted and ethereal and others are deeper more intense and edgy.

I will be playing and looping multiple instruments, fusing acoustic and electronic sounds, whilst singing my heart out. I aim to inspire and uplift you and have you leaving with a big smile on your face.

You can’t miss that now can you??!!!!

Tell me what 2019 has in store for you (apart from appearing at BM!) (releases, tours, gigs, etc….)

I will be releasing my new album ‘Darkness To Light’ which will be available on all streaming and online stores from April 19th, 2019

The first single off the album ‘Not Normal’ will be released April 5th, 2019.

I have been Invited to film the video for ‘Not Normal’ in LA with Hollywood’s well-respected Robert Reed Altman.  He has worked on many great tv shows and movies like Lost and Bones as head of photography and director! He is the son of the academy award winning director Robert Altman. I am very excited about this!

I will be playing at Australia’s most famous Festival, Byron Bay Bluesfest, and touring  Japan, Europe and UK.

I’ll also be playing at Beautiful Days festival in Devon just after Boardmasters this year too which is just amazing.

We’d like to thank Lucy for sparing her time to chat to us and we look forward to catching her set at Boardmasters.
