Burn It Down Festival takes place in Torquay on August 31st and there are over 30 bands performing including BASEMENT, FATHERSON, BLACK PEAKS & DREAM STATE

So you can learn more about as many of the acts as possible, we’re running a series of Q&A sessions on the site.

First up are hometown heroes THE EXPERIMENTAL, read on to learn all about the band and why you need to make sure that you’re there to watch them play….

You’re playing at the Burn It Down Festival in Torquay on August 31st, tell us a bit about your band and why people should come and see you play?

They shouldn't - it'll scar their minds!

We are... drums, bass and guitar but making the noise of six people - well, the bass player is! He's got a wall of amplifiers and a pedal board capable of controlling the space shuttle to the moon - the sound is immense.

The drummer is a machine and the vocalist is one vodka Redbull away from an aneurysm. Described as "...like Muse met Rise Against in a booze-fuelled party!..." and "...More addictive than crystal meth..." when the BBC described the single 'Beautiful Horizons' they said, "...it's a corker, crank it...".

Quite often we are the heaviest band on a lighter rock bill, and the lightest on a heavy line-up. 'Diversity' describes our sound, but if you want music that rocks, that you can rock out to, come on down... but, be warned, it will scar your mind. Some good songs, too.

Burn it Down is a festival but not in the traditional sense, you WON’T be stood in a muddy field somewhere getting rained on, did this thought cross your mind when you agreed to be a part of it?

Yeah, weird innit! For us it's at the end of a summer of festival gigs in muddy fields, with burgers, beers, getting rained on and very questionable toilets - we won't miss the toilets. With this line up there's gonna be some magic going on - will it feel like a festival? Only one way to find out.

Could you describe a typical live show (if there is such a thing?) what can the audience expect from you?

We like non-violence: Joe once jumped into the crowd to play bass between people that were kicking off and split them up enough to get everyone back into the show. Songs are diverse... politics, love, loss, mental health, beer, disco biscuits, prostitutes and, yeah, lots of stuff. The show is energetic. It'll rock with beautiful catchy melodies and some dark lyrics - if you're in the crowd, you're part of it. Sonically, we fit in well with a playlist of Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters and QOTSA.

The festival is taking place in Torquay which is also referred to as ‘The English Riviera’, have you ever played in Torquay before? If so, where did you play, if not, what are you most looking forward to doing whilst you’re in Torquay?

Yeah, we did our first gig in Torquay, so we're coming home! On a sunny day, with the breeze in the right direction and a cocktail in hand, it is ‘The English Riviera’ and you could be in the Med... then you bump into an undesirable who offers to sell you some horse and you snap out of it. Looking forward to the first big note of the gig that kicks in and knocks the wind out of you - that's the moment the rest of the world disappears and we're in the zone.

There are some AMAZING bands performing at the festival, which ones are you looking forward to checking out whilst you’re there?

This is one of the best things about festivals, you get to experience lots of new bands in a short space of time. I want to check out some bands we've played with before like Crooked Little Sons and the The Rezner for their awesome live show, then there are bands that I've wanted to see live but haven't managed to catch yet - mainly because we're gigging while they are gigging - like Phoxjaw and then of course the bands we don't yet know like Black Orchid Empire - can imagine live they will be extremely moshable.

Have you any new music/EP/Album due out soon? If so, please tell us about it

Our debut album was released on March 29th - 11 tracks, and we'll play as many as we can off the album at Burn It Down. It's basically an album of singles. Single releases are on our Youtube channel and the full album is on Spotify and iTunes, and in all good record stores (is that still a thing?)

We'll stick to south-west bands here as it's a South-West festival...
