We chatted to Jason Williamson from SLEAFORD MODS about BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL....

We chatted to Jason Williamson from SLEAFORD MODS a couple of weeks back ahead of the release of their latest album Eton Alive.

I since found out that that they were appearing at BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL on Saturday 10th August. It seemed a shame to use the same interview twice so we got back in touch with his lovely management team and sent a fresh batch of questions through all about the festival for him to take a look at. Here’s how we got on….

Tell me how you felt when you heard that you’d be playing at Boardmasters Festival this year?

Very happy. It’s a good festival.

You’re playing on Saturday, do you know which stage and what time you’re playing yet?

Not yet.

How does a festival set compare to that of a regular show?

You’re at the mercy of the crowd who are largely not there to see you. As we’ve gotten bigger as a band the crowds at festivals have grown too but it’s really all about being part of the thing instead of it being all ‘me me me me me’

Have you been there as a festival goer before or played their before?

No. I never did festivals really before the band took off

The lineup this year is OFF THE SCALE, which bands or artists are YOU excited about seeing?

Lady Leshurr & Dizzy Rascal

Is there anyone that you’d like to meet?

Haha. No. No one.

Will you be sticking around for the whole weekend or heading off after your set?

Heading off probably but we wanna see a bit on the day.

Will you be camping or staying in a local hotel?

Haha. Hotel.

Please give me your top three tips to surviving a weekend music festival

  1. Keep safe

  2. Drink lots of water in between the good stuff

  3. Enjoy it.

What do you think it is about Boardmasters that attracts such a large audience year on year?

It’s a strong presence on the festival circuit. It’s reputations intact.

Will you be having a surf whilst in Cornwall?

Haha. No.

Why should people come and watch you perform at Boardmasters?

We are the Sleaford Mods!

Your new album 'Eton Alive' is released shortly, tell me what else 2019 has in store for you....

More gigs. More challenges. More mods.

We’d like to thank Jason for his time and look forward to bumping into him at Boardmasters, dragging him and Andrew to the beach for a paddle, some sandcastle building and maybe even a cream tea!

Their latest album Eton Alive is available NOW and they are about to embark on their UK tour, more details below.
