We chatted to the amazingly talented singer songwriter JAMIE YOST ahead of his appearance at BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL this summer....

It was a few years ago that I first saw JAMIE YOST perform, I remember it well, it was the BBC Introducing stage at Glas-Denbury Festival, he took to the stage accompanied by a violinist and a bearded chap called Matthew Gordon Price (who is also an immensely talented performer in his own right). He played an incredibly stripped back, honest and heart rendering set which literally made the hairs on the back of neck stand to attention. This is someone that you NEED to have in your lives and now you can as he’ll be performing at the Net Loft at BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL on Thursday 8th August from 3:40pm.

We caught up with Jamie to chat about the festival and which of the other many acts that he’s looking forward to seeing whilst there, see how we got on….

How did you feel when you heard that you were going to be playing at Boardmasters Festival this year?

So stoked! It's a festival I've wanted to play for years now and to finally get the chance is amazing.

Please take this opportunity to sell yourselves and convince people WHY they need to make sure they’re in the Net Loft when you’re performing….

I feel like we’ve been making some pretty interesting music the last year or so. What's online doesn’t really reflect the full picture, so you’ll have to swing by the Net Loft to see me live! This is going to be a big year for us bringing out a lot of material we’ve been sitting on. Pretty much all my favourites. The new one ‘Smoke’ will be out 31.05.19 ! I’ll be performing in the Net Loft from 3:40pm on Thursday 8th August, see you there!

Have you played there or attended the festival as a punter before? (If so please let me know when you performed/attended)

I've never played or attended the festival so that makes it even more exciting. Plus Bear’s Den are on the Saturday and me and fergie have been loving the new album.

You’re performing on the Net Loft stage alongside some incredible bands and artists, which others are you keen to check out whilst you’re there?

Definitely James Gillespie. We have a lot of friends playing the stage so thats nice to see (The Native, The Trees, Sadie Horler, Joanna Cooke)  Hopefully catching those and I'm excited to check out Milo Gore

The festival attracts over 50,000 people every year, what do you think it is that keeps people coming back time and time again?

I think the whole surf festival vibe. I can’t pin it down as I've never been but it seems very inviting. Beautiful location too.

There are some pretty incredible acts performing this year, tell me some of the bigger names that you’re keen to check out….

Bear’s Den all the way, Wu Tang Clan would be a great laugh!

A lot of the performers on the Net Loft stage this year are from Devon and Cornwall, how would you describe the music scene where you come from?

I feel like Exeter and Cornwall have both an amazing scene. Plymouth has bags of talent. So many amazing bands and solo artists.

Whilst in Cornwall, I hope you’ll be partaking in a cream tea, a walk on the beach and maybe a surfing lesson

Ha ha definitely. I started surfing last year with a few friends so hopefully I wont need the lesson aha!

Lastly, please tell us where people can keep up to date with you on social media….
