With 17 Studio Albums, 5 Live albums, and 12 compilation albums, numerous world tours and over 30 years in the business, you'd be forgiven for thinking Simple Minds were rested up enjoying the rewards of a stratospheric career. On Monday May 29th however, their current 'Acoustic Tour' rolled into Bristol Colston Hall to another sellout audience. Don't be fooled by the tag though, this electric (but acoustic guitar driven) and eclectic festival of hits from their extensive back catalogue was far from a quiet affair.

With Jim Kerr into the crowd from the opening track, their stall was set out for a thunderous crowd pleasing set. Hit followed hit as Kerr and Charlie Burchill breathed new life yet again into their stadium rock anthems from the 80s and 90's with the likes of "Alive and Kicking" and "Dont You Forget About Me".

Stripped down versions lacked no amount of passion and integrity, and a stunning light show showcased and cemented their reputation as live legends.

With a new album currently being written there seems to be no end in sight for the band and its ambition. Following on from the critically acclaimed BIG MUSIC we can all anticipate new material very soon.
