On the 24th of February 2017, YOUR LAST DAY release "Everything You've Ever Known"; their third EP, which was two years in the making. Your Last Day has previously released 2 other EP's but with "Everything You've Ever Known", they feel that they have finally reached the pinnacle of their sound - and I must agree.

Now, let it be known that I come from the punk age of Black Flag and Circle Jerks; hard, fast, 'let's-go-destroy-a-house-and-punch-someone-in-the-face-while-we-are-doing-it' kind of music and of course, all while we have our punk music soundtrack playing behind us.  "TV Party" and "World Up My Ass" were my marching anthems and there was nothing better for an eighteen-year-old with something to prove, or so she thought. -wink-

Then Your Last Day was dropped upon my lap with a pleasant surprise! Yes! Punk! Of course, I love bands like Biffy Clyro and Muse but punk will always have a special place in my heart. Now, it took these boys from Your Last Day a few years to make this EP, mainly because they dealt with personal issues, fed those issues into their music which you can definitively hear - especially in one of my favourite songs, "Break Me". You can hear that they went through hell and came out the other side, bigger and better and ready to SCREAM it to the world!  "Break Me" has the hard and heavy drums that ALL punk bands need,  it's the backbone on which they rely. The beat that the crowd feels in their bones.

Speaking of bones, the next single "Bones and Hearts" gives the singer a chance to show off his chops and he most CERTAINLY DOES in a fantastic way.  It also gives the band a chance to give us a taste of how good their writing can be, evoking great imagery with some of the phrases, especially the chorus of the song. You definitely get the feel that someone went through something heavy and needs to end the negativity and come out the other side a changed person. It gives you  everything that punk rock should.

At times, it seems a bit frenetic, drums and vocal screams and tempo changes, but it all adds to the band's charm and individuality. It will definitely make them stand apart from other up and coming pop/punk bands. Another great quality is the singer's quirky voice, not your standard Blink 182 vocals, which make it even MORE PUNK and less pop and to me, that is a great quality for a band to have. Your own voice makes you stand alone, not amongst the drones of bands out there today that make up the 'Oh, I feel I've heard this before' genre.

Your Last Day, you've created your own genre, drawing on inspiration from punk, pop and all areas of music, probably even the vibe of the place where you live and have grown to love. I hope to see you someday, either in my country or across the pond in the UK, but either way, I'm sure I will be blown away by your energy and your fantastic musical ability.
