John Allen describes himself as "yet another one of these bearded and tattooed singer/songwriters", but don’t be fooled by these words; his latest offering “Sophomore” holds some emotional depth that some acoustic artists would only dream of diving to. In this offering his lyrics are momentous, heart breaking and at times uplifting; it could just be the perfect antidote you need to break the January blues and actually reach out for those positive affirmations.

WILCO - ALPHA MIKE FOXTROT RARE TRACKS 1994-2014 - ALBUM REVIEW
This box set comprises some 77 songs, pushes the 5 hour mark and retails for a price that all other artists and bands should try to emulate when releasing old or unreleased material. This is very much the story of Jeff Tweedy who emerged burnt from the split of Uncle Tupelo one of the founders of the Alt Country movement and the junior partner to Jay Farrar as the guiding force in that band. Tweedy however had his own musical vision and at the age of 28 set out on the Wilco journey that has produced eight full albums over twenty years including a number of bonafide classics.

'Full Moon' is the second single to be taken from the bands self-titled EP, released earlier this year. The video for their debut single 'Do You Feel The Same' caught the eye of both Kerrang and Scuzz TV, as well as the single receiving numerous amounts of radio airplay across the county.
Hailing from the birthplace of Dire Straits and Maximo Park, ETL, as they are known by their fervent following, have had one hell of a year. Going from playing local support shows, to signing to LA based independent label Kill/Hurt Recordings at the beginning of the year was a welcomed shock. The band have now gone on to play to packed rooms up and down the UK, with yet more touring planned in the new year.
ETL do not shy away from their influences; there are hints of Reuben and Nirvana laced within their sound, but that is something the trio are proud of. They bring a strong feel of 21st century British rock within their debut EP release, with every melody, riff and emotive sound flourishing their song writing ability.

I fell upon Nacho Silvestre recently after interviewing a French singer songwriter called Billy Boguard, he met Nacho in a bar in Kentish Town and after a good chat, agreed to have Billy stay with him in Spain and use his studio to record his latest EP. I duly sent Nacho an email asking if he'd like to get in touch and carry out an interview for our 'Introducing' feature, he agreed so a list of questions were sent over to him for completion.
It wasn't until after a few days that realised that we'd already been in touch with him back in September 2014 to carry out an interview....DOH!
Despite this, Nacho answered the questions all the same, luckily, I had written these questions whereas Mark Wincott had pulled the last set together so there was little duplication! What you see below is part 2 of the Nacho Silvestre interview, think of it as all the questions that we didn't ask in September!

Steely Dan are amongst that privileged elite of musicians which include The Beatles and Brian Wilson, who gave up touring at a certain point in their career to become the masters of studio perfection and release albums so good that they defined an era. In the case of Walter Becker and Donald Fagan the obsessive search for the "right cut" would see them use 42 musicians on the 1980s album "Gaucho" with its title track drum backdrop assembled from 46 different takes.

Lost Pets is a Nottingham based band that despite being under a year old have already managed to speed success by landing gigs across the country as well as writing and recording their own tracks, in fact the band is so new that before May 2014 these girls had never met each other. They were brought together by answering to an advert “for untalented girls who can’t play their instruments”; but what’s clear to see in this short space of time is that these girls can most definitely play their instruments and they can most definitely write their own fantastic music. They recently uploaded 3 of their live tracks to Bandcamp, we logged on and had a listen….
