I thought it would be fun to list a few classic debut albums and let you lovely people choose which one was your favourite. Please feel free to write a few words about what the album means to you, how you were introduced to the band and whether you're still a big fan!

BULL have done it the hard way too, having formed in 2011 as a creative outlet for Tom Beer (vocals/guitar) and Dan Lucas (guitar) with the additions of Tom Gabbattiss (drums) and Kai West (bass) later. BULL inhabits that distinctly American college-rock genre, citing 90’s influences that range from Pavement to Pixies and Yo La Tengo. Their twitter account describes them as “The English Beatles” - a tongue in cheek depiction, but BULL’s use of vocal harmony and instrumentation certainly nods towards the Fab Four. They write comfortable, groove-oriented guitar music, carefully crafted vocal melodies backed up by rich and warm guitars that don’t shy away from expressive solos.

Is 4 Lovers is a ten-track assault on the senses that traverses from trademark buzzing guitar, fuzz covered synths and processed sneering vocals to softer pop.

Gloria are an Indie-Rock sextet from Lyon in the South East of France. After the desire to create a 60s style girl group, the band was formed from a multitude of individual artists. Following their first album tour across Europe, two further EPs were released in 2018. Gloria returned on 5th March 2021 with their psychedelic pagan rock album Sabbat Matters.

Written & Directed sees Black Honey go darker and heavier on all fronts, without losing the plaudit-winning hooks and sass of their previous outing. They’ve swapped out the vocoders for fuzz pedals and serious riffs as well as collaborating with the likes of Carl Barat (The Libertines), Olly Burton (The Prodigy) and Mike Kerr (Royal Blood) to create a rich and coherent collection of songs.

Rag‘n’Bone Man’s spectacular return continues today with the announcement of UK autumn dates, kicking off with a big hometown arena show at the Brighton Centre, also including London’s Eventim Apollo on November 6th. Tickets on pre-sale March 23rd, and on general sale March 26th here.
