After hearing that The Ciderhouse Rebellion were hitting the road for a mini UK tour, I wanted to find out a bit more about them. I’d heard that their live shows are electrifying as they create music ‘within the moment together’, so each performance is uniquely magical in its improvisatory focus, this led me to think that surely the tracks that they play at shows would sound completely different every time? Glasgow’s Walt Disco today share ‘Macilent’, their third single via Lucky Number. The track continues the band’s run of thundering, highly emotive singles coupled with stunning visuals following ‘Weightless’ and ‘Selfish Lover’. The ‘Macilent’ video was directed by Eric J Liddle and Kasparas Vidunas and the release is also accompanied by the announcement of a UK and European tour for next spring including London Scala – tickets are on sale now.

Following news of their long-awaited 8th studio album Never Let Me Go, Placebo have today announced a major headline UK tour for November and December 2022 including two nights at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. Seagoth is 20-year-old Georgia Ochoa, a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from the northwest of England. Recording in her bedroom, Georgia has been gradually building a loyal following, drawn in by songs such as Internet Cafe (2019) and Eternity (2020), which combine the lo-fi dissonance of bedroom-pop and the striking synth melodies of indie-pop. It was the latter track that brought Georgia to the attention of UK independent label Bytes, who heard it when Andy Bell of shoegaze legends RIDE played it on Soho Radio. (Andy also records for Bytes as GLOK, his electronic alter ego.)

Dry Cleaning continue their incredible year with new tour dates for 2022. Their debut album, New Long Leg, is one of 2021’s most praised albums thus far, championed by The New York Times, The Observer, Pitchfork, New Yorker, The Guardian, and more. Since its release, the band has completely sold out their debut US tour, which starts this Wednesday at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom. The new spring 2022 dates will see the band expand upon their mostly-sold-out UK tour as well as visiting many North American cities for the first-time ever. Revealing the latest addition to the ever expanding range from UK independent publisher Rock N’ Roll Colouring – the first official colouring book from Iron Maiden, Heavy Metal’s most iconic, influential and enduring band.

It was a night when a bit of the cold from the North had begun to reach Portugal, and the town of Montijo in which I had arrived for a very special show. MOONSPELL was playing a Halloween show for their biggest fans; the fans of their home country. After forming in 1992, and playing with all the biggest names in metal, that is nothing short of a "magical" feat.

It’s not every day you get the chance to chat to a legend, I use the term ‘legend’ very sparingly these days as it is a tad overused when making reference to famous people but in this instance, I am happy to use it and I’m sure you’ll understand why.

Way back in the late 1980’s there was a music scene that swept the nation, with its quirky, futuristic sound and electronic ‘bleepery’, we were introduced to ‘Acid House’, one of the bands that took the bull by the horns and began creating music in this mould was Manchester based 808 State and I was blessed when Graham Massey from the band agreed to have a chat.

We spoke at length about many subjects including the early days of the band, Manchester’s Hacienda nightclub, the John Peel Radio Show, Top of the Pops and other fascinating topics, read on to see how we got on.

October 2021 - Artist and songwriter Kid Apollo is fresh on the scene with a brand new song titled “Wrong Foot Forward.” The opening line, “Did you actually write that song for me?” reveals the artist’s intimate and spontaneous approach to songwriting. The directness of the lyrics is incredibly endearing, and it almost feels like peeking into a conversation, with the artist pouring his heart out in every word.

Rory Gillanders is an artist and songwriter who developed a penetrating and endearing sound, capable of charming the audience and instantly connecting with people with his vision and creativity. His new release, Wilderness, is indeed a powerful example of what it can accomplish. This music will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat, because there are so many amazing and mesmerising creative influences bringing a unique touch to the project!

I’m not usually one for midweek shows, but when a band has come all the way from a faraway planet, I felt the need to make an effort and get myself to The Phoenix in the heart of Exeter to catch a band called HENGE.

Having been at least 90 days since I last caught Scouting For Girls, I didn’t think that their show was going to be better than it was in that field in July 21’ – Chagstock was the festival and they were the Friday night headliners. Fast forward 3 months to 25th October and I find myself outside the Corn Exchange in the heart of Exeter, shuffling along in a slow moving queue, waiting to enter the building. It was a cool Monday evening (who invented gigs on a school night? whoever it was should take a good hard think and ask themselves, “are they really worth it?”) As we got near the door, it was clear that their fans didn’t care what night it was, it could have been Christmas Day for all they cared….
