From time to time, we ask bands and artists to take part in our 'Deep Dive' feature, where they lift the lid on a track or a number of tracks and let people in on their creative process.
In this edition, we called upon Bristol Art-Rock quintet EROTIC SECRETS OF POMPEII to take part. They were happy to get involved and chatted about three tracks from their recently released debut 'Mondo Maleficum' which is available NOW.

In recent years, core members of post-punk electro pioneers Minny Pops have been in and out of the studio to work on new recordings. Sessions were abandoned, songs were re-recorded and there was lots of soul searching and those close to the band were wondering if new recordings would ever see the light of day.
At one point in time, all doubts were cast aside and as a result, here is the new Minny Pops single “Dad Dog”. Warning, this song is not about DOGGING, working as a DOGMAN or DOG GROOMER. This song is about the unconditional love of a man for his dog.

Frontman Wally van Middendorp says “Inspired by movies ‘Amores Perros’ (2000 – directed Alejandro Gonzáles Iñárritu) and ‘Dogman’ (2018 – directed by Matteo Garrone) I started thinking about the relationship of my dad and his dogs. His favourite one was Viktor and I can tell you he used many more words to express his love of Viktor than to show his love to his wife and my mother. My dad was not a man of many words.’’
Release of new single “Dad Dog” signals a rejuvenation for Minny Pops who have been in hibernation for many years. The band released their classic ‘Sparks in a Dark Room’ album through Factory Benelux and their singles “Dolphin’s Spurt – Goddess” (FAC31) and “Secret Story – Island” (FAC 57) through Factory Records in early eighties as well as a handful of new songs in the last decade including single “Waiting For This To Happen” on Tim Burgess’ O-Genesis label.
Fast forward to 2024 which will see the first album release of a series of four albums to be released in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 as well as live performances, poetry readings and Minny Pops karaoke nights. To kick things off, there is the ‘Stockholm_1974’ shindig at The Chapel of St. Margarets House in London. There will be song, dance, music and who knows, even some nudity. Rumour has it the Swedish Chef will be attending serving his famous vegan pâté on knäckebröd.
Dutch author, artist, and curator Leonor Faber-Jonker was invited to create collage artworks for each song on the ‘Stockholm_1974’ album which will be on display in London for the first time and who knows, also the last time ever.

New Sohodolls single “Mother Wouldn’t Like It” is a light-hearted punk pop atomic bomb about teenage rebellion and getting up to no good on a Friday night with your mates, with thick, driving riffs that stab and bounce with mischievous glory. Sohodolls really know how to write catchy riffs, hooks and lyrics and all are abundantly on display.

The Commodores once sang “Once, twice, three times a lady”, you might want to sing the song but replace ‘lady’ with ‘BOSS CASS” as this is the third year on the trot that he has been invited to play at BOARDMASTERS FESTIVAL.
Festivals normally have a 2 year rule, whereby an artist or band cannot return within this time period. When it comes to BOSS CASS (FKA FLUFF), he has re-written the rulebook and will be presenting his one man punk rock show to anyone lucky enough to witness it.
We caught up with the man himself to chat about BOARDMASTERS, festival survival tips and his dream festival lineup, read on to learn more….
