A completely random mix of epic music has challenged many peoples systems and stirred the emotions of millions....
1. Eric Church 'Springsteen' - Introduced to me whilst living in Alberta Canada the first "Country" song that i fell in love with and made me fall for modern country. beautiful lyrics that mean the world to me and my partner at the time. I even started singing it with a country twang when learning it on the guitar.
2. Fields of the Nephilim 'For Her Light' - To me just atmospheric concept brilliance.. a real sense of mood and atmosphere and perhaps the most influential and ground breaking band of their time.. will never forget sitting outside a haunted castle listening to this
3. New Model Army '225' - A powerhouse hit you in the face song of its times.. what pop didn't say New model did.. a generation of change and angst.. it says it all. oh and it was the first song i learned to play on the guitar.. not a bad one as it covers just about every open chord going.. and some power chords to boot.
4. Janes Addiction 'Three Days' - This to me is just genius. it is like being grabbed by the balls dragged around for a bit then kicked into touch by a kiwi rugby player, and enjoy the flight.. its quite start and the build is just simply amazing by the time its finished with you you are reaching for the aspirin and making your excuses to the next door for the noise..
5. Faith no more 'The Real Thing' - Just one of those massive tunes that we dont make anymore. epic in every chord and vocal.. and i got kicked in the nuts to it at reading and just about survived the rest of the gig
6. Fleetwood Mac 'The Chain' - What has not been said about this utter timeless classic.. famous for its bass line in the Formula one but its what follows that makes it. epic guitar and vocals that put mac in the halls of fame of great bands
7. Gary Numan 'Are Friends Electric' - A zillion years ahead of his time. and still sounds fresh now.
8. U2 'Where the Streets Have No Name' - What needs to be said just a massive anthem that will bring any stadium, hall or venue to its feet..great lyrics, building guitar and just U2 at their very best.
9. Paul Mcartney & Wings 'Live and Let Die' - To me this is just the best Bond theme.. it has it all. drama and calm and then MORE drama. a powerful tune that you cannot help but get gripped by and never been repeated. but from memory i think it may have been one of my first bond movies that I watched also if not was certainly my favourite as a child.
10. Tears for Fears 'Shout' - Although being a big hit at the time I think this song is utterly underrated..it is both a great pop song and anthem.. great memories of this song both when it was released and my sister and i dancing to it but over the years cranking it up on the rare occasion it comes on the radio...
