Grizzly. Hailing from South London, this Brixton Grime Mc/Rapper is raw, straight- up and electrifying. This man defines the word 'Independent' completely. Having his own home studio, Grizzly is all hands-on-deck with his work. Recording, engineering, releasing and promoting all his own material Grizzly is a solo artist like no other.
Having worked with some big names in the Grime scene such as Typah, Big Narstie & Killa P to name a few, Grizzly is no stranger to the scene. He has 6 Mixtape/Albums and a number of Videos on Youtube since 2008 and he shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. Check out all things Grizzly here.
Dalmatian born MEDIKA, aka Milena Lukic, has been on the UK scene since 1997, DJing as a 15 year old at house parties and outdoor raves. Starting out with DNB, her love for music could not be contained and soon she had residencies for Hardhouse & Breaks up and down the country. NOISE was her first London residency which she took over the running of, and is now in its 6th year with 12 residents and underground superstar guests from all over the bass community. Her love for DNB has stayed there throughout the years and NOISE has become a gem for its fresh, cutting edge sounds. All the Noise gigs are recorded as Medika comes from the tape pack era. Dabbling in production was a natural progression and her first release '7 Days' EP shows an experimental side to her music taste much influenced by field recordings whilst studying Art Video.
A band of Trinidadian, Jamaican and Australian decent, Mangoseed know how to deliver the Funk. South London-based they deliver energetic live shows and a heavily eclectic sound. Formed in 2008 by front man Nicholai La Barrie and guitarist Karlos Coleman, Mangoseed fuse funk guitar riffs and rock bass with a poetical hip hop lyrical delivery to create their own unique sound.
Their distinctive sound and live shows have earned them a spot supporting AlabamaThree three times and most recently, supporting Grammy Award winner Micki Free on the first step of his world tour. They recently released their first EP, Mangoseed, featuring the single ‘Devil in the Road.
Vital Consultant, aka Richard Legge, has played various instruments in a myriad of bands over the years and decided last September to take all the different types of music he'd had a crack at and play them all at once. Vital Consultant was born, assisted by the binary wizard Spud Maloney on keys and beats, and by the giant whippet Tom Godwin on guitar. Vital Consultant found ways to do a lot with the old verse-chorus-middle thing from disco to dnb. Their music is described as uplifting, soothing, pulsing and vox-based electro music ‘Don’t Spoil the Party’ embodies all of this. Expect to be surprised, get a bit sweaty and have trouble describing what you've seen and heard.
Having only formed a year ago; Vis-a-Vis are a back-to-back DJ duo residing in South London. Coming from different musical backgrounds, the pair deliver a perfect blend of underground House and Garage. In their short career so far, they have played numerous nights at some of south London's biggest clubs, including Corsica Studios, The Bussey Building and The Lambeth. As well as numerous hackney warehouse raves and parties.
Vis-a-Vis are resident DJs at 'Bad News', an every last Friday of the month club night founded by the duo themselves, hosted at The Market House Brixton. Alongside a monthly night Vis-a-Vis can be found on the airwaves with their weekly radio slot every Thursday 1-3PM on S-Dance Live. Recently the pair have established a regular daytime vinyl fair at Bar Story, Peckham. A place where DJs, vinyl-heads and South London's music junkies can meet and trade records. https://www.facebook.com/BadNewsLondon and https://soundcloud.com/thevisavis
Sharing the stage with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Bassment Jaxx and Disclosure is no easy feat but Mr Basista has the stamina for it. Having produced singles for other vocalists such as Queen of Bass Ayah Marar he is currently working on a track with the Queen of Garage Kele Le Roc.
Mr Basista’s has played at some of the biggest parties in the UK and abroad, Radio One’s Hackney Weekend, Soundwave Croatia and Love Box. Air plays of his solo productions and lyrics have been played on BBC Radio One, Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw, Mista Jam on BBC 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Kiss and many more. The video for his latest release ‘Basista Skank’ has featured on NME TV and Channel AKA.
