Luke Wylde and the Japes are a 5 piece Indie/Folk/Pop band from the West Midlands.
Acoustic guitar undertones, delicate ukulele highlights, full-bodied bass and energetic percussion provide the perfect backdrop for the intricate surf-pop-high-life guitar riffs and distinctive voice of Luke Wylde.
The songs of 25 year old Luke Wylde have been described as well-crafted, and, have a 'certain something' in the lyrical content and vocals that sincerely moves the listener. Brought to life by The Japes, the songs seamlessly travel through various sub-genres; flirting with Californian surf pop riffs, experimenting with gypsy jazz evoking melodies and bouncing with indie pop guitars. 'Luke Wylde and the Japes' create a musical journey, accurate in rifling through all the elements of love; ecstacy, insecurity, heart-break and depression.

SOME REVIEWS:
"Not many bands seamlessly transcend genres with such graceful ease and display such a stern melodic defiance towards a standard and simple classification. Luke Wylde’s emotively honest and insightful song writing, captured within the versatility of his energetic and upbeat aides ‘The Japes’, certainly wouldn’t sit comfortably in the constraints of any musical category, but their music certainly sits comfortably on the ear." music224.com FULL REVIEW: music224.com/luke-wylde-and-the-japes/
"(Ghost) is fantastic, it's absolutely amazing! They're a brilliant band. We had one of their tracks in a couple of weeks ago and we couldn't stop playing it!" BBC Introducing, Radio Shropshire, Josh Withey + Rob Fanner
"...an accomplished set of original material containing more hooks than you could shake a stick at! " Brewood Music Festival 2012
"It always feels an honour to be asked to listen to a young singer-songwriter's work, especially when then they have that 'certain something' in their lyrics and vox that makes you realise you're going to like them from the first few bars. A selection of well-crafted, thoughtful, gently recorded acoustic tracks that defy the young man's age in their maturity and content. Whilst the tracks are familiar friends in their acoustic/indie/alt-folk set-up and delivery, he finds his feet with 'The Fighter Plane'... a track to cup your heart and sip at the tenderness of affection he has for his song's 'her'. " Katy Jay, WCR FM
