“Minimalist, sepulchral-soul textures and plaintive lyrics that areas far removed from standard pop platitudes as it is possible to imagine.” Sunday Times Culture
“This Life and Hustler are enough to propel him into the public consciousness, all ears alert on the fact that he’s an exciting new solo artist.” This Is Fake DIY
“Just elbowed his way to the front of the year’s ‘pop guys to watch’ queue.” The Fader
As far as opening acts go, they don’t come any finer than the debut singles from rising pop virtuoso Josef Salvat. Arriving unannounced at the beginning of the year with single ‘This Life’ followed by ‘Hustler’, we’re now set to hear a little more from the newcomer. With two new tracks ‘Every Night’ and ‘Till I Found You’, the former premiering on The Fader and Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show, being released as a double A-side via imprint Fingers and Thumbs on December 9th.
While Salvat now resides in London, ahead of this year the hotly tipped singer drifted between homeland Australia and his heartland city of Barcelona, Spain. It’s from this spell of wandering that the material on this upcoming double A-side release was crafted. As The Guardian so aptly observed, Josef Salvat creates ‘intriguing, intelligent, tantalizingly twisted stuff’’, and his thrilling personal narratives continue to unravel with this release making Salvat one of the most compelling pop voices to have emerged this year.
Having already appeared this year at Blissfields, Lovebox, The Great Escape and headlined his own packed out Hoxton Bar and Kitchen show, Josef Salvat has already been announced as one of the first acts for SXSW next year and supported The Jezabels at London Scala on 12th November.
