'Following heavy airplay on BBC6 it's safe to say Alberteen's star is in the ascendency....a work of genius you'll wish you'd had in your collection for years' Louder than War
'Beautifully stylish beats with delicate infusions of Talking Heads and Nick Cave' The Guardian
After worldwide critical acclaim for their album Metal Book, and airplay and sessions on BBC6 Music and XFM, Alberteen now announce the release of a new 4-track EP: ‘Dead Language X 4’ on Rhythm & Noir Recordings, on November 18, featuring remixes by seminal electro artist and producer ANDREW POPPY (Coil, Nitzer Ebb, Mute, ZTT).
The EP’s brilliant and infectious lead track, ‘Our Dead Language’, is taken from their critically acclaimed debut album Metal Book (Rhythm & Noir, 2012) and has been featured as a track to watch out for in The Independent, Time Out and Uncut Magazine, as well as recorded for a BBC6 Session.
'An archly literate blend of 60s R 'n' B pop and Lynchian soundtracks' Uncut Magazine
‘Angular, industrial poptones, darkly cinematic soundscapes’ The Independent
Imagine falling through time in a red plush booth salvaged from the ruins of a club in old Soho. It’s 1958, it’s now, and it’s older than you can remember. ‘Our Dead Language’ is concerned with the destruction of time and the time of destruction.
‘Our Dead Language’ is accompanied by two radical re-interpretations by the renowned avant-garde composer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Poppy (Andrew’s previous collaborations include Psychic TV, Coil, Eraure and Claudia Brucken) and a live version recorded for a BBC6 session last year.
Alberteen’s previous single ‘A Girl & a Gun’ received worldwide media attention, was playlisted on BBC6 Music, and featured on the BBC6 2012 Mixtape as one of the tracks of the year. It was also re-recorded with the band Cornershop and produced by Tjinder Singh as part of their Singhles Club releases earlier this year. The album Metal Book (and Our Dead Language) was produced by Mike Bennett (The Fall, Libertines, Ian Brown, Prodigy).
