Tankus the Henge released a brilliant summer tune when they released Cakewalk. Imagine Suggs, The Clash and Paolo Nutini mixing a musical Ska recipe to create a 3 minute carnival summer tune and we are close to describing the track.
You can see lead singer Jez performing the album track Weather below;
Tankus the Henge are six sharped dressed and bedraggled gentlemen hailing from some of the more eccentric parts of London Town . Their music draws from a multitudinous array of influences including rock, ragtime, reggae, blues, funk, disco, gypsy punk and Django. Described recently as ‘Like The Clash from New Orleans .’
Their new single Cakewalk promises to be a summer smash with it’s carnival air it will get you out of your seat and dancing the Tankus tango.
The current line-up was completed in 2011 and since then the band has been either on the road or holed up in a recording studio working on their eponymously titled debut album, released later in 2013 on SRM Records. With wailing horns and a steaming piano in tow, Tankus the Henge have toured the far reaches of America, Europe, Albania and the Isle of Wight, bringing with them their electrical energy and fascinating tales of wonder and woe.
The world of Tankus the Henge is uplifting and wild, dark and heartfelt.
A six piece powerhouse of a band drawing visual and musical influences from old time Fairgrounds to modern day Circus; The Beatles to Tom Waits and Gogol Bordello to Radiohead, they embody a look and a sound that lies somewhere between their South East London home and the carnival town of New Orleans.
With their charismatic frontman, Jaz Delorean, looking like a lost character from a Terry Gilliam film and the pump and grind of the Tankus the Henge sound generating a groove that makes it impossible to stand still, their live show ebbs and flows like a small boat on a turbulent sea.
Any other band who billed themselves as "the most fantastic band in the world" would rightly quake in their boots at having to live up to such fanfare. Tankus the Henge defy you to contradict them!
