With their new album 'Turbines' out this coming Monday June 17th through Full Time Hobby, Tunng have revealed a new video for single 'The Village'.
The video serves to further explore the fantasy setting Mike Lindsay & co have created for this remarkable new record. “We knew that to take things to the next level we needed to get close and create our own intense community, locked in the studio" he says of the album.
"It was as if we created our own imagined village where we could debate, collaborate, explore possibilities and choose the right way forward. This way we were forced to re-examine our relationships with Tunng, with the music and with each other - a completely different process from how we’ve recorded in the past. By the end of the sessions we knew every lane and alley of that village, every house and all the people in them.”
This sentiment paves the way for an enchanting clip telling the story of a community - a village - each individually searching for the "something" that drives them.

This week the band have also seen the new record make it's debut online with a seal of approval from the New York Times. Listeners can stream the album in full here.
Bands as individual and enduring as Tunng don't come around too often. Across their decade together, the group have gone from newcomers, experimenting in the basement of a Soho's women's clothing boutique, to acclaimed sonic masters, expertly threading electronic influences with unhinged, off-piste pop.
A warm, sophisticated record, ‘Turbines’, is moving, addictive and impossible to categorise with its eclectic range of instrumentation and ideas combining to make something as unique as you're likely to discover this year, or any year. It’s also a more nuanced, reflective and mature album which has uncovered a new power in the Tunng sound, already winning a well-deserved wider audience.
“The best thing about working with this band is that we can throw all the ingredients in, give it a good shake, and see where it lands,” says electronics wizard Phil Winter.
“It’s our sci-fi folk rock album,” says Lindsay, with a nod to the whirring cosmonaut synths that flicker in and out of the new single. “It's been an adventure that has taken us all over the world. An amazing journey”
That trip is set to continue as European dates are announced and a full UK tour in October with label mates and fellow sonic explorers Pinkunoizu coming along for the ride. Before that though, they have two intimate and sold out London shows in July.
