Former Alexisonfire guitarist and vocalist Dallas Green (see what he did with the name there?) has put out three previous albums under the City and Colour moniker. This is his fourth, a collection of acoustic-led indie-folk ballads that breeze away any sort of blues you might be experiencing with their summery vibe.
Some of the tracks here sound like they could be Coldplay
outtakes ('Of Space and Time', 'The Lonely Life') and as such, come across as
less than essential. It's not a bad record, far from it, but in terms of a
memorable excursion, this isn't really one that will stand the test of time.
'Commentators' breathes some life into proceedings, but there's a little too
much grey on the palette for City and Colour to truly dazzle.
