"The band you've always wanted - a work of genius' - Louder than War
"Darkly cinematic soundscapes...brilliant" The Independent
"Your new favourite band" Run Riot
Following the success of the recent Dead Language EP which received worldwide airplay in the USA, France and on BBC6 Music as well as critical acclaim, Alberteen make a return to the live scene with an appearance at London's Aces and Eights on Saturday Feb 1st.
Alberteen shot to prominence with their worldwide hit single A Girl and a Gun, followed by the album Metal Book (5 stars The Independent, Uncut Magazine) and sessions for BBC6 as well as airplay around the world. Cornershop remixed A Girl and a Gun and it was released as the last ever single in their The Singhles Club series on Ample Play. The album and singles were played by BBC6's Mark Radcliffe, Gideon Coe, Tom Robinson and Liz Kershaw throughout 2013.
Singer Phil Shaw is a professor of English Literature and his acclaimed book on Patti Smith's 'Horses' was released in the 33/3 series last year.
Alberteen will be performing songs from Metal Book as well as new songs from their forthcoming album scheduled for a Summer release.
Support comes from Alan D Boyd and his new band. Alan is the front-man of the seminal international instrumental group Little Sparta and recently wrote and recorded the music for BBC1's The Day of the Triffids.
