Terry Emm is a man rising into light. Tipped by fans Bob Harris at Radio 2 and Chris Hawkins of BBC 6 Music, 2014 is shaping up for this young London songwriter.
New release ‘Starlight’ is due on 3rd March, the title track taken from his third album. This is a new musical adventure from previous albums that saw him struggling to get out of a darker personal space - now accomplished and apparent in the intricate rhythmic finger-picking and effortless soaring strings that the record displays he is fast becoming known for his quality intriguing live performances.
The release accompanies a set of tour dates, including shows for which he was handpicked to support current British buzz act Emma Stevens, folk artisans Moulettes, and the incredible American blues man Harry Manx.
Talking of the song’s origin Emm says:
"I came up with the guitar riff whilst sitting on a park bench in Amsterdam on a friend’s down tuned guitar. I wrote some words about the passing of my Nan - I thought it had an otherworldly, reminiscent feel much like looking back on the life of someone, helping me come to terms”
English sensibilities refine a style that Emm has been working towards on his two preceding efforts. The coming album was produced by Michael Clarke (Dan Whitehouse, Oh! Stockholm, Arbour Lights) and acclaimed string arranger Calina De La Mare (Tindersticks, Sophia).
‘Starlight’ the single is out 3rd March 2014
