Having attended the last two 'Loft Live Sessions', I can thoroughly recommend it as a great night out. Hosted in a medieval barn on a farm on the outskirts of Exeter, you can sit back, enjoy a drink from the bar whilst being entertained by some of the finest acts on the music scene.
Recent acts have included Canadian band The Bros. Landreth and only last week saw the captivating Gavin James take to the stage in front of a sold out audience.
The Loft Live Sessions is FAST becoming THE place to be seen, tickets often sell out way before the event so read on to learn all about the acts performing and get your tickets booked, there'll be a link at the bottom of the page.
ANDY QUICK
Andy Quick is a sensational singer and songwriter with a rich, soulful voice and a reputation for wild live shows.
Originally from Lancashire, Andy moved to Devon over ten years ago and is unashamedly happy with life in the Southwest. His music is raw, rootsy, uplifting and fiercely original – a breath of fresh air for the UK music scene.
As the frontman of Land of the Giants Andy has toured extensively from Ireland to India. The bands award winning ‘mongrel blend of hip hop, rock and reggae’ has been a revelation at street level. The band have developed a huge organic following, selling out venues across the UK without the need for a huge hype machine behind them.
In 2013, with an urge to create a solo album full of soaring strings and punchy piano riffs, Andy Quick’s Flying Orchestra was born. Although originally a side project it has snowballed into another monster live act with more truly inspired tunes and beautiful female energy.
“Obsessed” with songwriting, Andy is a writer of anthems that stick with you long after the show is over. As a performer he has real fire in his belly and is now a regular player on major festival stages including Glastonbury, Bestival and Isle of Wight to name but a few.
SMALL TOWN JONES
The last couple of years have proved promising for Devon based singer songwriter Small Town (Jim) Jones. Having provoked numerous great reviews including a four-star review in Q magazine a 5 star review in Maverick, Jim is making some noticeable waves. He is becoming more widely known after the title track of his last album “Freight ships was picked up and was played on the BBC Radio 2’s Dermot O Leary show which later led to a live Saturday Session with his long time compadre and guitarist Dave Little and has recently led to him returning to the show.
Small Town Jones’ new album features some great guest musicianship from the likes of Son Volts Dave Boquist to the vocals and folk singer songwriter contemporary Emily Barker as well as the backing of long time friends and musicians Dave Little, Mike Reed and the brilliant Peter Bruntnell.
The first single from the new recording “Night full of ghosts” has already received a great response with airplay on BBC Radio 2 and the momentum continues to build once more.
His honest style of songwriting coupled with the intense and soulful acoustic sound have earned him praise from the likes of such folks as the acclaimed singer songwriters Ray Davies, Ron Sexsmith, Peter Bruntnell, John Murry and Willy Vlautin (Richmond Fontaine/ The Delines) as well as the Ivor Novello Award winner Iain Archer (recent project Tired Pony with Peter Buck & Gary Lightbody), Jim has opened for Ray Davies, Damien Jurado, Chuck Prophet and Richmond Fontaine as well as well as recently touring Ireland and the U.K. – more gigs to follow soon.
CLARA BOND
Clara Bond is an up and coming singer songwriter from Devon, UK. Although she describes herself as a pop artist, her experimentation with the blending of elements from different genres produces something that stands outside of traditional pop.
A busy couple of years included appearances for The Telegraph, SBTV, numerous live performances and one of her songs being featured in a film in the Cannes Film Festival. Travelling from her native Devon to London became second nature, all the while continuing to grow her fan base on YouTube with cover songs, attracting the interest and support of Ryan Seacrest who described her as having “one of the best covers on YouTube”.
Having had the good fortune to work with an array of chart topping writers, Clara has made waves as a songwriter since the release of her first EP ’The Chase’, pushing her to new levels of media presence. Alongside her single 'Hands Up', Clara recorded an exclusive full band set for BBC Introducing and returned to the studio in both London and the US to write material for her third EP "Out of Towners", to be released in June 2016.
She was recently invited to perform at Ronnie Scott's and has recorded and filmed an exclusive 4 track live version of her EP for BBC Introducing.
