Having sold ALL tickets in less than 5 minutes, expectations were high to see Harrison Armstrong, better known as ‘AITCH, perform at Exeter’s Lemongrove.
Hailing from the mean and moody streets of Manchester, his debut track ‘Straight Rhymez’ has garnered over 17 million views and bought his music to the attention of Stormzy.
The ‘Lemmy’ was packed from the get go, fans of all ages filled the bar before the night’s entertainment kicked off.
Opening up the show was local rapper Louis J Walker, who, aside from using tonight’s slot to support another massive name in the British rap scene was also promoting his brand new ‘Stand Up’ EP which was released on the date of the show.
Louis covered a variety of subject matter in his rhymes including mental health, wellbeing and positivity, a breath of fresh air compared to other rappers I have heard lately who think it’s still the 80’s and are rambling on about drugs, guns and ‘bitches’.
With the room warmed up, it was time for AITCH to take to the stage to perform some of his tracks and really get the place bouncing!
With the lights dimmed and the room full of dry ice, AITCH took to the stage with what can only be described as a rock star welcome.
The front row, made up primarily of young ladies were struggling to stay upright and as the crowd surged, many were assisted out of the pit for a breather prior to going back into the throng once they’d got their breath back.
After a short but sweet set which included 3 originals and a couple of Stormzy cover versions, AITCH thanked Exeter for having him and said that there was plenty of stuff in the pipeline for 2020!
