“Playing warm, compelling folk pop with a dash of jazz, Alva is like a poppier Tori Amos or bluesy Regina Spektor.” - For Folks Sake
“Both fetching and sultry, Leigh’s brand of piano folk/pop has also earned her a rep as one of Nashville’s brightest young talents. In a city where piano-pounders and crooners are a dime a diva, what separates Leigh from the bunch is a knack for subtlety as well as a penchant to leave her listeners wanting more” - Nashville Scene.com
Introducing the beautiful Alva Leigh, who has arrived fresh from Nashville to release her single ‘Modern Love Song’ in the UK on 31st March 2014. This enchanting, folk-inspired single will also be available as a free download for a limited time via Alva’s Facebook page in exchange for a 'Like', click HERE
With pretty melodies and lush vocals that nod to the likes of Rilo Kiley and Regina Spector, Alva’s brooding piano pop has already received commercial success over in the States with her single ‘Calling me’, which was produced by John Mark Painter (Ben Folds), being used in an episode of the TV medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Currently based in North London, Alva takes inspiration from artists such as Peggy Lee, Kate Bush, Carole King, Dolly Parton and Fiona Apple, and describes her new single “as a song about staying in love. It’s about sticking it out even when the odds are stacked against you and staying put when everything else around you is moving.”
The single is taken from Alva’s new album ‘Modern Love Songs’, which will be released later in 2014.
