ANDY QUICK is a huge talent and is never content to rest on his laurels, he’s spent the last two years establishing a loyal following for his eponymous band. They have evolved massively over the last couple of years since the band formed and recorded their debut Album. Playing live so often has also helped them tone themselves up into a truly tight combo.
Andy has been pushing his lead guitar playing to new heights after playing rhythm guitar in a band for ten years alongside some great lead players, drawing inspiration from musicians such as Jack White and Graham Coxon who refuse to be confined by any single genre or style and play with masses of groove and rootsy blues.
We’ve taken a listen to Andy Quick’s new EP Diamond Sounds and he’s rightly very proud of this one. ‘Caned and Able' is his latest offering and It’s a delicious toe tapping bluesy number for which he’s shot a tremendous video with his band showcasing both the cheeky and wicked sides to his songwriting.
In ‘Blood', Andy catalogues his creative process: “It’s about the ideas that come to us in our minds and the ones we have to dig deep for”. The tracks have been written and arranged by the band and are as close to their stunning energetic live sound as they could recreate in the studio.
The EP is released TODAY (Friday 14th June) on all the usual platforms. It’s also available as a limited edition run of just 200 CDs HERE.
If you get a chance to catch the band live you should do so without hesitation…the band are super tight and the hype is growing, FAST! Andy has a unique voice and a knack for a catchy chorus or two. Their show really is quite something, the joy they take from playing together and performing live is infectious. You can find them playing over the Summer at the following venues/festivals….
