BABYBIRD will return for a major headline show at London’s prestigious Shepherd’s Bush Empire this March.
A quick recap for the uninitiated…
Operating under the alias of Babybird, Stephen Jones spent many of his formative years on the dole, writing songs that would form some of his legendary Lo-Fi works.
Jones would go on to release five albums in the mid-90s, each of which would hit the top of the NME chart. Amongst these, was ‘UGLY BEAUTIFUL’, the only studio Babybird album that included some of those cassette recorded Lo-Fi sessions and band versions. It went Gold. Stephen stopped signing on.
Fast forward thirty years and ‘UGLY BEAUTIFUL’ stands alongside a big bag of hits including 9 that bothered the Top 40, a further 150 Babybird albums released via Bandcamp, dozens of official releases (including around four major studio albums), several compilations, collaborations with Johnny Depp, notably TV syncs, and many self-released works.
And after many TV shows and world tours, including 6 or 7 appearances on TFI Friday, and 3 appearances on Top of the Pops; Babybird will add another feather to their cap all these years later, with a headline show at the esteemed Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 7th March 2026..
