If you’re getting tired of the American forced accents of modern scantily clad pop stars that force your way into the brain then maybe I have something that may intrigue you. A young girl by the name of Becky CJ with a beautiful classical voice that speaks from the heart with her own heart breaking song writing skills on her latest EP ‘If This Is Love’.

Opening track ‘Funny How Things Change’ opens with a delicate music box intro that darkens blending into delicate vocals and lyrics speaking of admittedly quite cringe worthy lyrics, but hold on! Don’t screw your face up as the song progresses into an angrier more turbulent style that fits beautifully alongside her very English pronunciation and cleverly matched low tempo stylings.

Third track ‘Me and You’ is a darker ‘revenge’ track with bellowing cellos and emotionally striking violins as her voice strengthens with emotion. You can tell each word sung is spoken from the heart, a true pain that is produced with raw emotion. Final track ‘Mixed Messages’ is a deeper piano range before fashioning into a busier track than previous but not failing to lose any of the raw passion in her voice that many girls of a young age will probably be tormented through at this stage in their life.

The most popular and radio friendly track is likely to be ‘If This Is Love’ which harks back to the early days of Regina Spektor, Vanessa Carlton and Christina Perri. Close your eyes and you can almost hear the crowds of youngsters singing along to her gentle and devoted vocals with lyrics that once again many can relate to at some point in their life plagued with teenage love affairs.

At one stage a few years ago the British females were taking over, Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch and Kate Nash, I think it’s fair to say that as this artist matures, you’ll probably be seeing and hearing more of Becky CJ on your radio set soon.
