BELLA CUTTS steps forward with debut single “Run Like a Child” - Released 1st May 2026

April 7, 2026

Every so often a debut single arrives that feels oddly familiar, not because you’ve heard the artist before, but because something in it brushes up against your own memories. Bella Cutts’ Run Like a Child is one of those rare ones. It’s gentle and reflective, quietly courageous, and it doesn’t try to dazzle you. It simply opens the door and lets you step inside.

Cutts is based in Devon now, but her story stretches far beyond the South West. Born in Switzerland and raised across Sudan, Myanmar, Turkey and France, she’s carried a patchwork of places with her. You can hear that in her writing: a sense of movement, of watching the world shift and learning to stay soft in the middle of it.

The press release mentions her first “notable performance” at eight years old, playing an original piano piece in a Yangon hotel. It’s a lovely detail, partly because you can picture it so clearly, but also because it hints at who she is. There’s a quiet boldness running through her work, a mix of tenderness and mischief that makes her lyrics feel lived‑in rather than polished.

Run Like a Child was written during a difficult year, and the verses carry that weight. But the song never sinks into heaviness. Instead, it feels like someone slowly remembering themselves. Cutts spent months revisiting old childhood footage from her years abroad, and that rediscovery, the curiosity, the unfiltered joy, sits right at the centre of the track. It’s nostalgic without drifting into sentimentality, hopeful without pretending everything’s perfect.

She co‑wrote the song with Ed Harcourt in his slightly eccentric Oxfordshire studio, which makes perfect sense; the track has that soft, dreamlike shimmer he’s so good at coaxing out. Producer Shane Shanahan later shaped it into something warm and uncluttered, giving her voice the space it needs.

Live, she performs as a duo with guitarist James Davies, and there’s already a quiet buzz forming around their shows. She doesn’t rely on theatrics, just presence, and Run Like a Child feels like the song that will anchor her sets as the year unfolds.

As debuts go, this one doesn’t shout for attention. It doesn’t have to. It simply offers a glimpse into Bella Cutts’ world and leaves you wanting to see where she goes next.

Listen to Run Like a Child from 1st May 2026 when it is unveiled in all its glory.
