Strange Souvenirs, a Berlin music duo, have just released their new song ‘Nothing2’.
This is a strangely unnerving track which is comforting at the same time. A song about everything and nothing. Strange Souvenirs are masters at making something work that maybe shouldn’t… both thematically and within the music itself, that is.
The duo fuse acoustic and electro but in a way that feels seamless. Synth pads glide as a French horn plays. There are experimental bits of production here and there, whilst the bare bones of the track feel very timeless and classical in that sense. This glorious fusion of 80s new wave, 90s trip hop & shoe-gaze, post-millennial electronica & indie all works wonderfully when in the hands of Strange Souvenirs. Previous tracks the duo have released include the feverish 'Facts XXI' with its sleek groove and insatiable synth hook - a sort of Radiohead meets Gorillaz sound. 'The Cleaner' is a more Massive Attack sounding number, with elements of dreamy trip-hop and a slower tempo.
Their diverse musical palette creates something entirely new. Check out their latest single ‘Nothing2’, which is out now to stream and download.
