Billy Lockett has unveiled the video for his new single ‘Burn It Down’. The song is the title track of his upcoming EP released on November 13th through Selfish Records. The video premiered at NOTION who said: “‘Burn it Down’ is a simple, yet effectively haunting tune. Emulating the lyrics of the track, the video leads the audience into thinking it’s the desperately sad aftermath of the separation of two people; before crushing the moment with a shocking twist at the end. For the majority, the video is a metaphorical exploration of the emotion conveyed through the lyrics of the song; it’s subtly moving, and wonderfully relatable.”
Boasting a spine-tingling narrative, the ‘Burn It Down’ video is a hauntingly dark look at heart-wrenching relationships and the perilous twists and turns that come with them.
Lead by rich luscious keys, Billy Lockett puts his heart on the line in the brutally honest ‘Burn it Down’. “Sometimes it’s good to forget the past,” croons Billy in his irresistible, hushed vocals on this delectable first taste of the brand new EP.
The Burn It Down EP sees Billy Lockett at his most thoughtful and ingenious yet. ‘Alone’ enlists warming synths that shroud the pensively penned track, while ‘Holding A Gun’ captures the cavernous falsetto talents of Billy Lockett in almighty grandeur. EP closer ‘Blackmail Kiss’ is a tantalising example of the talented singer/songwriter at his most ambitious yet, which witnesses his commanding vocal presence raise hairs with a thrilling minimalism.
Billy Lockett is riding the success of a phenomenal 18 months, which featured three separate sold-out headline tours of the UK, support slots from the likes of Lana Del Rey, Nina Nesbitt and Birdy and support from Radio 1 and XFM for his previous singles, ‘Old Man’ and ‘Never Let You Go’. He also celebrated the Old Man EP hitting the Top 5 of the iTunes singer/songwriter chart and going Top 40 in the main chart, becoming the only unsigned artist in the Top 100 that week in the UK Top 40.
Billy Lockett starts the first of his big announcements for 2016 with a headline tour of the UK. Kicking off on March 25th at Manchester’s Gullivers, the five-date tour will call at Glasgow, Leeds and Bristol while culminating with an intimate show at the Borderline, London on March 30th.
