Bleachers return with new single ‘i’m not joking’ and announce huge UK & EU tour

May 16, 2026

Bleachers are back, and they’re not easing into anything. The New Jersey six‑piece, led by the ever‑restless Jack Antonoff, have dropped their new single i’m not joking, a widescreen burst of heart‑on‑sleeve indie pop that tees up their forthcoming fifth album everyone for ten minutes, out 22 May via Dirty Hit.

“i’m not joking” arrives as the latest preview of a record already shaping up to be one of the band’s most ambitious yet, joining previous singles the van, you and forever and dirty wedding dress. If those tracks hinted at a band stretching their sound in multiple directions, this one cements it, Bleachers are in full technicolour mode.

Bleachers have long been known for their ferocious live energy, the kind that turns a gig into a communal exhale — and 2025/26 has seen them double down on that reputation. Their eighth annual Shadow Of The City festival returns to Asbury Park this May, kicking off a sprawling US run before the band cross the Atlantic for their biggest UK and European headline shows to date.

The tour lands in November and December, hitting major cities across Italy, Germany, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, the UK and Ireland. London and Manchester get the grand finale in early December, with two nights at the Eventim Apollo already looking like essential winter fixtures.

A portion of every ticket sold, £1/€1 will be donated to The Ally Coalition, supporting LGBTQ+ youth.

Antonoff has described the new album as the “inevitable culmination” of a lifetime spent obsessing over bands, and you can hear that devotion in the way these songs move. It’s a record that flickers between harmony‑rich folk rock, glossy pop soul and the sax‑soaked New Jersey sound that has become Bleachers’ signature.

Despite moments of darkness, the album leans hopeful, lovestruck and defiantly optimistic, the kind of emotional maximalism that has earned them praise from the New York Times, who called their work “anthemic” and “life‑affirming”.

Since their 2014 debut Strange Desire, Bleachers have built a fiercely loyal following across four albums, culminating in their self‑titled 2024 release, a critical high point that saw them sell out a world tour and close with a career‑defining night at Madison Square Garden.

Now, with everyone for ten minutes, they’re stepping into a new chapter: bigger rooms, bigger songs, and a band operating at full creative tilt.
