Edgy political and raw, the Brighton band of brothers SONS have outdone themselves with their new track 'Rise'. They have a habit of writing tracks with one word titles which is a rather clever device, it makes their lyrics bite and, together, with the most noise two brothers could possibly make, they are quite an act, they do angry music very well indeed!
Following on from the success of their first three singles, ‘Reptiles’ and ‘A Love Song?’ and ‘Zealot’, The duo are in supercharged form with their newest track. ‘Rise’ is anthemic, with a jarring, atonal guitar riff which paves the way for a chorus drop that is intense. ‘Rise’ showcases their ability to write sharp lyrics and embed catchy hooks while never compromising on their message. In times of political uncertainty, the newest single is the bands most direct comment. Singer Lee Meldrum said, “I wrote 'Rise' after watching a sketch by [the perpetually outraged] Jonathan Pie." Young people are raging against the system on Social Media but have no idea how to turn that anger into action. "I feel it's like a call to arms that if they keep on being ignored and silenced there will be an uprising.”
SONS enjoyed wildly popular shows at Reading Festival, The Great Escape, Soccer Six, as well as a number of gigs across the UK. ‘Rise’ is the band’s second release via Till Deaf Do Us Party Records sister label to Alcopops Records.
