After impressing so many near the end of last year with her captivating debut single ‘Bone Collector’, which was picked up by BBC Bristol and Amazing Radio USA, Bristol-based artist Dora Lachaise has now returned to deliver her sophomore effort ‘I Confess’.
Channelling a broad and sweeping dark-pop appeal, ‘I Confess’ continues the foundations built with ‘Bone Collector’ and creates this wonderfully warm and airy aesthetic in the process. With its rich and ethereal energy running throughout, she has returned with a truly masterful release that sets her far apart from much of what we hear day-to-day in the alt-pop scene.
Speaking about her track, she said, "My productions had always been based around acoustic guitars and pianos, but electronic artists like Sevdaliza and FKA twigs lured me into a different, more experimental sonic world.”
Inspired by a medieval statue of Mary Magdalene, ‘I Confess’ has launched Dora into the semi-finals of the Dutch national ‘Art Rocks’ competition. Adding, “Mary Magdalene’s story was used to pressure girls and women into behaving in a certain way. I wanted to lend my voice to Mary to defend herself, because even today, women are judged by outdated ideas.”
