“Beautifully restrained work, lush strings and gentle ripples of piano” Clash
Following on from their critically acclaimed second album Let Me Come Home, March 24th marks the return of Broken Records with the release of their new EP ‘Toska’. Accompanying the release comes a run of UK live shows throughout April.
Produced by Tony Doogan, who worked on their last album, the title track opens with lush strings where Jamie Sutherland’s voice leads the track.
“I think it’s really just about conversations you have with your girlfriend and people that are close to you,” Sunderland explains. “It’s always that thing of when you’re talking about difficult times in a relationship it’s never black and white, big dramas and break ups. There’s this more considered approach to how relationships actually work. That’s kind of what the song is about. It’s about being unhappy but not really understanding why it is that you’re unhappy”.
Broken Records are set to release their third album ‘Weights and Pulleys’ in May 2014.
